Looking for a store

I'm currently looking for a discount on-line computer parts store.

So far (newegg, E-Bay, various from search engines) the savings are minimal if any.

Local shops have a great selection of parts and systems, and good prices. Thought I could do better at the on-line shops...

Currently in the market for a barebones AMD based system. At least 1700 XP, 256 DDR, and GeForce 2 (64mg) as the base line.

And the local shops that I know (and can go back to if problem) are running about $500. The on-line shops range from $475 (ish) up to unreasonable for approx the same thing.

Any suggestions for where to get best deals would be very appreciated.

Thanx

I know you mentioned Newegg, but honestly I think the savings + service are tough to beat. IMO of course.

Just went out looking again, found a (I hope) nice looking place

http://store.yahoo.com/ibexpc/index.html

They have barebones and build your own, just what I am after.

Prices for a complete system, built the way I like it are the same as barebones locally...

If anyone can give me a rating on this company I would be very happy

Smiles

Hifi:

Only reason I had trouble with Newegg was that they really didn't have barebones systems. The prices on individual parts were good, but...

Maybe if I have the time to order all the parts I will go with them...

IBEXPC? Haven't heard of them but the prices do look pretty sweet You're absolutly correct, besides the "shuttle" mini atx barebones, newegg doesn't offer much in that department.

I got the IBEX link off the resellerratings search page (barebones) look at the links in the grey box at the bottom.

Thought that they would have been listed with RR since they had a link there...

But no listing at all...

Going to post another thread with thier name in the title, hope to spark someones memory that way.

Apologies to the moderators for the double post, but not willing to loose five hundred dollars when one post would save me...

you could try unicom-pc.com there are a couple of other threads here at techimo where people have bought from them. they have a duron 1.2 barebones for $160 and a xp 2000+ for $250. Shipping seemed to be about $10, may be more for west coast? Anyway I haven't ordered from them yet, but am thinking about it.

Another option is outpost.com which sells barebones. I think they have some xp1800+ for around $200 just search barebone from their main page and then sort by price lowest to highest.

i agree about newegg being good for parts, but their barebones are $$$

Have you tried www.TCWO.com? They usually have a couple of
barebones system at reasonable prices, and from a reputable co.

Also try www.compgeeks.com - just read carefully to make sure it
isn't a refurb.

The only barebones I've ever bought I got at www.Outpost.com ;
it was a great deal for board,CPU, case and PS, and free shipping.
(at the time)
