VPR Matrix is terrific
I have owned a VPR matrix PC for 2 years now. I have never had any problems (except windows XP related). I have never had any compatibility issues, it starts up quickly, it never gets hung up, and it is super easy to change or add components. I have had many computers over the last 16 years, the first was a radioshack brand "Tandy", it was o.k. for 1987. The next one was a "made to order" by Cybermax in 1996, it was a big improvement for me, it worked well most of the time, but it had a motherboard issue that was finally resolved after months of complaining. Next was my HP Pavilion, it was o.k. in the beginning, but as more programs were added I started to have more "system" problems. Customer Service was the worst I had ever experienced. The absolute worst thing about HP's customer service was I knew more about computer's then the people I ended up talking with. One of them said I had a virus and needed my "motherboard tatooed", the problem ended up being the CDROM drive failed, ironically I had Best Buy do the "repair", and while they had mine I looked over their VPR Matrix and bought one that day. I still have both computers, my HP still gives me problems ALL THE TIME and the VPR Matrix still works perfectly! What a shame they are no longer produced. I think the reason you had not received a post from a VPR Matrix owner for awhile was because the owners were not searching around looking for information on their perfectly working systems.

vpr matrix 175B4 notebook
It has been two years since I bought my vpr matrix 175B4 laptop
within the first month I had a serious problem with the AC input
jack, my dog knocked it of the coffee table, it crakced the back housing. So I took it in to the Best Buy where I purchased it, what a mistake that was. The so called IT expert there told me that this particular problem was not covered under thier warranty
and that I would have to pay for parts and labour. Well after some discussion I managed to have them agree to pay for the labour. I left the computer there. They said it would be 2-3 days.
Yeah right! a week or so later I phoned and was told the part was on B/O. HOW LONG? I asked, 2-3 weeks was the reply, OK
what was I supposed to do? Long story short, 4 1/2 weeks later
still not ready, called Best Buy head office. No reply. After much arguing I was told to go to the store I purchased it at and pick out
another laptop. All they had was a HP Pavillion. I took it home and
funny the next day the store called me to say my VPR was ready.
Great Lttle computer. Horrible store (Best Buy) I've never been back.

Yes it is a shame VPR Matrix was forced out of the PC and laptop business. The big guys won this one. There are many other excellent small companies out there that custom build at good prices so don't sweat the demise of VPR. Who knows, they may return via distribution by another retailer. Jim

Question about vpr Matrix® 220A5
Does anyone know where or how to get extra parts. Like batteries and stuff.
I have the 220a5. bought it in Sept 03. After reading the good, the bad, and the ugly on this site.
I have had no problems except for the buzzing and heat.
speaking about the heat. Cant the consumers protest, sue just to get that problem fiexed. I have resorted to folding a People magazine in half, sliding it under the middle of my laptop so the air flows through. It still gets hot.
but if anyone knows about the parts please reply.
Oh and Jim,
THANK YOU FOR THE LEAD AND INSIGHT, I REALLY APPRECIATED IT.

I haver a VPR Matrix
Hi I saw the post here while looking for information on my VPR Matrix Computer. Thought Id leave a post for you
I own one and have had it (253R) for around 2-3 years.. IT KICKS ASS! Very good quality parts (Western Digital, Pioneer, Invidia to name a few) and with the fact it has a Intel board and "off the shelf" parts available, it is MAJORLY upgradable. at the time of this post I plan on buying a new Intel Mothorboard with a 3.06 Ghz Hypertrheading Processor for this system. as it comes with intel boards standard it is a cinch to upgrade a new board as Intel (so Ive been told) is pretty consistent with their board design for how it will fit in a case.. The quality of this system is SO good that you will NOT find it at most Best Buys anymore (even though it is a Best Buy Brand.. Basically I have been told by people AT Best Buy that because of the quality and cost of the systems HP (who has HP and Compaq) Threatened to pull their systems off the shelves of every Best Buy in America if Best Buy did not stop selling them.. They are still available through the website http://www.vprmatrix.com and still VERY reasonable my advice as a happy user of this system is to GO buy one you will NOT be disappointed..
??? email me direct @ phazar2004@charter.net happy to talk to you or anyone else out here looking at this fine machine
Thanks for lettingme post to this group

VPR Matrix
I too own a VPR Matrix machine model 2020 The machine for me has been a good system no problems. Only thing I did was install an extra cooling fan in the case. The onlt complaint I have had is the machine came from best buy with the HD formatted in the fat32 file system. I would have prefered NTFS I know i can use convert but it's a hassle either way.
