Direct Deals

Anyone dealt with them recently? Their older reviews (about a year old) aren't so great, but their newer ones are much better. I'm specifically looking at XP Pro (Full Retail Version). At $182 it absolutely annihilates most company's prices (other than the $50 thing w/ M$). Anyways, its for a company, and we'd rather not do the whole Partners thing... so since Direct Deals is cheap and has decent ratings, we were considering them. Anyone have experience?

http://www.directdeals.com/product.asp?id=1724 is what I'm looking at.

I've ordered several times from them over the past couple of years with never a problem.

Question:
Why would you order the retail version, when you can get the Full
OEM version from them for about $136 or so?

I mistakenly pre-purchased a retail version of WinME, thinking I would receive a big old fat manual that I could sink my teeth into.
But even the retail boxes do not supply actual, physical manuals
anymore.

The only reason to buy the retail version, I believe, is that you can upgrade your existing OS, or re-install over the same OS,
(which some people advise against). Also, don't know if WinXP retail supports this function, like Me did. . .

You can't do this with an OEM. It has to be a clean install.
Hope this helps you feel more confident in ordering from DirectDeals.

We want to upgrade, which is why full OEM is out of the question. The thing is, if we get the retail version, we can upgrade or have the option of doing the full install at a later date.

I understand. That makes sense. Feel free to order from DirectDeals with confidence. A lot of folks around here also like
#9 Software - I might be a little off on this name.
