Well, my order yesterday was for 2 OEM CD's, and the saver shipping was $8 [$4 each, no give]
That's mighty steep, since if I were to go to our shipping department here and do the same thing, it would be around $3
They do get you on shipping sometimes. Watch for their free shipping specials. Still though, the shipping charges USUALLY don't jump to horribly with the combination of products I usually order. Though there have been several times I freaked on the shipping total and just took my order elsewhere. That's all there is to avoid that problem.
I thought about calling to haggle the shipping cost...but the last time I did that with a company their spite showed up upon delivery.
And I doubt they would refund any shipping charges calculated on their site. They're relying on that for mo' money. I have yet to find a company that really even comes close to charging you for the actual shipping cost. They all wanna make mo'money.

I think its usually best to stay away from refurbished parts, no matter how reputable the reseller is.

I just got a refirb Lexmark z55 a week ago, works like a champ. even looks new. the only things I've had problems with from newegg were a couple of IBM Deskstar 60GXPs that died less than a month after I got them... and that wasent really new eggs fault. So they still have bussines and trust.

Einsamherz,
You probably did NOT have any "bad" RAM -- regardless of what "errors" MemTest listed -- so that was not your problem...you most likey sent perfectly good RAM back.
MemTest can't be trusted on AMD systems. Had you run DocMemory also, I bet you'd have had no "errors" in the RAM whatsoever.

(err...should have read that last post again...) | i ordered a case, floppy, cd-rw, dvd, vid card, sound card and a bunch of misc stuff. shipping came to $56. great deal considering it came in 4 working days. very interesting that others are having trouble with that shipping calculator.

I ordered a mobo (asus a7m266d) and a 1600+ mp amd. I got a new asus mobo and a used amd mp. it died in 2 weeks, got a rma sent it back, they emailed said they would credit my account, replied and told them to refund my money, that I needed a 2nd mp processor since I just got a new mobo from them. They didn't respond! so I tried looking on their web site, found a 1600+ mp (retail this time), called them on phone a couple of times, the gal I talked to was nice, said that my money would go toward the purchase of new amd processor. LIE. I had $120.00 (approx) in account with them, new processor was about $120. shipping was added (which they said they wouldn't do) and charged my visa $141+. I probably wont deal with these liars again.

wow.. I'd like newegg to call me and resolve issues with my now extensive collection of "32x rated" *cough* *cough* CDRs. Some of them have poor ink distribution, fewer still are slightly warped and make a pleasing off center rumble when burning -- before I cancel the burn and trash them.

I have never had an issue with their shipping charges- I bought a few items the other day with a case (shipping on the case is $15.00) and got a mobo, cpu, hdd, dvdrom, cdrw, memory, etc and the shipping came out to $15.61. Also on the 2 RMA's out of 270+ purchases I have made from them - they have promptly refunded the cost of return shipping to me-all it took was to fax a copy of the shipping reciept. Come to think of it- those RMA's were refurbs- but over half of my purchases have been refurb. Less than 1% RMA on refurb items- that's quite acceptable.
