The Epox 8K3A motherboard is a very good board, based on the VIA KT333 chipset. Quote: Originally posted by Juan Sanchez Holla ma fellow geeka bruthas, word down da pipe is dat AMD is gonna be bustin out a new Athlon XP with a 333 mhz Front Side bust, cuz da man, Intel, is sticken it to em wit da northwood 533, you know what im sayin, and da x86-64 is taken its sweet time shaken its good stuff our way, you know what im sayin. Yo brutha Salad, yo should be waitin fo that, Its gonna be HOT bro, I hears dat mobo wit KT333 and 735/745 wont have ish wid dat hot peice o pie. So if you not a tatle you best be waitin fo the Athlon XP 2400+, you know what im sayin? | Translation: Rumor indicates AMD has an XP chip with a 333MHz FSB in the works, because Intel has strong competition with their 533MHz FSB Northwood chips, and the 64bit chips aren't out just yet. Salad, you should wait until you can get an 8K3A motherboard with an XP 2400+ because that'll be one sweet deal.
There, how's that? |

I think the XP1800+ or XP2200+ is a waste compared to the XP1700+. I have seen reviews where the reviewer could barely get the XP2200+ to XP2400+ levels. Just not much headroom. But, I am running my XP1700+ at XP2200+ levels with a lousy goop job and a $15 HSF (CoolerMaster HAC-V81) and it is rock stable and I am at 45c CPU temps with cheap Crucial PC2100 DDR. That's a 330MHz overclock.
My buddy in LA has a 500MHz overclock with his and Endo has something like an 800MHz overclock with his. Endo and I are using the Epox EP-8RDA family of nForce2 boards (you can get the EP-RDA for something like $90). My buddy is using the ASUS version of the nForce2.
If you can buy an Epox EP-8RDA and XP1700+ for $145 and get the processor zooming at XP2200+ or XP2400+ levels then why spend any more?
By the way, newegg is very good but I have had better service with tcwo.com. Both are very good.
