Outdoors Avoid AVApc.com like the plague...

Just an fyi for everyone here to pass the word to avoid the following company(s), all under the same managment & phone contact; Alvio Corp, AVApc, and MG Electronics. To make a very long, very embarassing story short, I ordered a complete system from them for about $1500 USD, and about 9 business days later (supposed to have shipped within 7 days) they call and ask me to switch my order from my Visa card to a Discover or American Express card because their "Visa and MasterCard systems have been frozen". Needless to say, I cancelled my order but can not (as of yet) get them to send a credit to my card company because they supposedly can not access my funds due to the freeze.

I have since done a world of research on web sites (like Resellers & BBB) which provide great information about online businesses, each of which give this company the thumbs down. My fault for not doing this PRIOR to giving out my cash and allowing myself to be burned, but I don't want it to happen to anyone else. Hopefully I will get my full refund since I neither received the product, nor got my money back.

I have submitted a request to the BBB in Ohio (where this company is located; one of the reasons I chose them since they are close, and offered what looked like a great warrenty and great price) and the BBB is working on my case. I have also submitted requests for help from the Ohio Attorney Generals Consumer Affairs department who is also looking into this for me. I have completed the appropriate paperwork with my credit card company as well, and fortunatly they have placed the charge out of my balance until this is resolved. If anyone has any other suggestions of people that could help out in this matter please drop a post. I want to bring as much heat to this screwy company as I can, including small claims court if it the steps I have taken so far prove futile.

I have been shopping online for about 3 years now and usually avoid this mess by going with the big name companies...of course paying a bit more for that warm fuzzy feeling. I can not stress enough the need to research a company fully. My anger is addressed as much at myself for not doing this as it is at them for screwing it up. The worst thing is, I originally entended to buy from Ibuypower but could not configure the Rambus system I wanted there so I kept looking...now, since I had to shop again, I was able to figure out how to configure the exact system I wanted from Ibuypower and have placed the order with them...if only I had figured that out before I found AVApc...*sigh*

Call your CC company! Dispute the charge! They will get the money back... they don't want to have to worry about you not paying them! (Because you never got the product)

That's nice and crooked of them. I think the least they could do is send you a check! Still haven't gotten my money back from CompGeeks, either...though no where near 1.5k! only $47...

Resolved

Just an update to this situation; I received word from my credit card company, the BBC, and the Ohio Attorney General's office that the matter has been resolved and my money has been refunded.

Thanks for maintaining this site. It definatly is a consumer's friend.

STAY AWAY FROM ALVIO! Always research your companies before you buy....heaven knows I will from now on!

Doesn't matter, cash is cash, especially if you worked hard for it.

Me: Hey Jim, we've been more than fellow soldiers, but to me like brothers. Would you take a bullet for me?
Jim: Paul, as long as it doesn't penetrate skin or vital organs, fine. Just finish your burger and help guard the base before they get our flag.
