GoogleGEAR
Is it safe to buy from them? I mean, they look like a good company... most reviews for them on resellerratings for the last while have been good, but their still under 7, and that makes me worry. I'm considering buying a P4 2.26 GHz processor from them and well, I'm not sure how safe it'll be.

I've ordered from them 2-3 times and everything was shippede on time and I've never had a problem with any of their hardware. A good honest company from my experience.

IMHO, if you don't feel comfortable using them, then go with a vendor with tops ratings like NewEgg.
Is there any particular reason why you choose Google Gear over another?

I've already looked at resellerratings... the only reason I don't feel comfortable w/ them is the occassional bad review (that everyone has anyways) and the 6.9 rating. The recent reviews all look good except for that one person who went ballistic...
I'm considering Google Gear because it has the cheapest RETAIL 2.26 processor from any of the decent resellers...

Generally when I see one bad review and a whole slew of great reviews, I tend to discount the bad one. My reasoning is that maybe that person just had bad day or maybe the vendor did screw up, but my guess is that is the exception to the rule, that they have a reputation to keep and want your business again.
Now if I see several bad reviews, forget it, something's wrong there, why take a chance then.
At least you know that they aren't a fly-by-night operation, I haven't looked at their ratting, but I bet you probably won't have any problems with them.
Good luck and enjoy that new P4 2.26Gig (wow !!!)

Bah, I ended up going w/ Newegg... For a few (literally just a few) dollars more I feel much more secure. Plus I ordered my memory from them too, so a nice big chunk of my money goes to Newegg! |

Although obviously too late, I'd highly recommend Googlegear. I got my Soyo Dragron +, and Athlon XP, PC2400 DDR-Ram, and a Volcano 6cu hsf from them. The prices were by FAR the best I could find at the time. Especially on the ram, it was a great buy.
Everything shipped on time. They had constant information availible for me regarding the status of the order/shipment.
I couldn't ask for them to do their side of the job any better. I'd say they are right on par with Newegg.
