Buying in multiple quantities
Having just graduated high school, myself and several of my friends are looking to build our PCs for college.
We are looking at very similiar systems (ie: same motherboard, proc, ram etc) and it seemed that if we could order these together we could probably get some kind of discount. However, I was having trouble finding any resellers that did this.
So, basically my question is: where could I go to order computer parts in quantities of 2-4 to save some money. We're specifically looking at Athlon XP 2100 procs, system boards.
Thanks for any help!
-Aaron

Welcome to TechIMO, Nohbdy. Someoen will surely give you some good, non-biased ideas. We do not allow anyone to use the site solely for advertising, like Surreal said above. People can of course post ideas, as long as it is not for personal gain (like the above person did)
Best of luck. Congrats on graduation and best of luck in college.

You'll find it hard to get much of a break as most online vendors give a good deal anyway...
I suggest don't go the cheapest option anyway ... Go newegg

Most likely the only way to get a discount is to buy from a local dealer. The online vendors have very low profit on their items.
So unless you buy very large quantities it's very unlikely you will get a discount.
1 or 2 mobo's and CPUs does NOT count
you need to buy A LOT of stuff to get a discount online.

I agree. I used to work for a university. We bought in volume AND were an academic institution. This is normally a double whammy for discounts, but none of the companies gave us discoutns b/c the online prices were so low. I bought mostly from newegg.com mwave.com and outpost.com (outpost was great when they had free overnight shipping, but now aren't so hot).

Welcome to the forum!
As john80y said, go with Newegg they have about the best price/service and low cost shipping for an online vendor. P.S.
The above advice is free, but you and your friends will have to join the TechIMO ECCp Team as those XP chips will kick some ars...lolol j/k

just to make a example
where i work we have a nice profit between 15-25%
But most online stores (In sweden ) have only 5% profit
I could give a ya nice discount but i'm affraid shipping would be murder |
