CompGeeks let me down

I have sung their praises for quite some time. Last Friday I ordered some stuff including a laptop harddrive. Wanted it quick so I paid for 2nd Day Air. It wasn't shipped until the close of business Wendesday. Kinda defeats the purpose of a quicker shipment. Apparently the HDD was out of stock because of an error in inventory. I never got an E-mail or phone call informing me of the problem. They could have at least done that so I had the opportunity to chose another product or cancel my order. Scheduled delivery for my order is Monday July 8th. 10 days after I placed my order. What good is paying for quick delivery when they take so long to get it out the door? Out of stock....I can accept. But I should at least be notified of problems.

How much more was 2nd day air? I think I would at least try to get a refund on the extra shipping cost.

I guess that is where the principle comes in. It was only an additional 3 or 4 bucks. This is the first time I've ever ordered and upgraded the type of delivery. Maybe I'm upset for little reason. But at the very least I am very disappointed because I wanted to finish my laptop upgrade this coming weekend. Heck they may have upgraded the drive....but I wouldn't know because they have never contacted me. I emailed them and am waiting for a response. Maybe they'll credit me back something. I've always had great service before. They usually have some pretty good Geek Specials. I won't avoid them because of this but will think twice about delivery method.

Just hope you don't need a refund for the item after it arrives

it will be a several month battle getting any bucks back from those guys...well, actually, they still haven't given me a refund, so perhaps more than several

they've been having a lot of ID10T errors lately

It's working now, at least for me.

They have some good deals, with decent reliability, but they have
dropped the ball on a couple of my orders. . .

The worst kind of Vender/ Manufacturer messups are when they fail to keep their word.

But here there seems to be a factor beyond their control--but a little-bit of knowing what's going instead of "That's in another Dept.' would have helped avert this.

Mu feeling is when a Co. wastes your time getting something straightened out, they should compensate you with money or a credit.

But hard to get worked up over this except for the failure to tell. I agree, money in higher charge is not the issue. I'd talk to somebody there, and overlook it. Wasn't venal as you described it. More of an unintentional screwup.

I've cooled down a bit now. My order is suppose to arrive tomorrow. I'll be interested to see just what I get. If they were OUT OF STOCK...maybe I did get upgraded.

All I ask for is decent communication. I understand I am not their only customer but it would only seem right to at least send one of those generic out of stock notices by email.

Dave, I'm not an apologist for Geeks, and their bookkeeping has gotten me snafu'd before.

But they're supposed to have a live inventory database, so what happened to you shouldn't have. I've also had to wait as long as two weeks for them to get something that was IN STOCK out the freaking door. It was during the holidays and right after a warehouse move, but still....

The one place they still really need to bone up on the the customer service area, for sure. I still only pull the trigger on something there if the deal is irresistable, or I really need it and can't find it anywhere else. And I never get in a hurry about it, although, for the past year and a half or so, they've been pretty OK about getting it out the door.
