Gaming Think Computer Geeks is a good vendor?

How's this for a nightmare? This text has been copied from my resellerrating of their company

CROOOKED!

5/10 Refund supposedly issued

Have since had them reissue twice (today is July 2nd), neither of which has posted. Not once have they contacted my bank, only their own accounting end, but they haven't even tried to check the account number to see if it's correct (wouldn't that be numeral uno on your list). Now...CHECK THIS OUT:

"We have documents proving that you were indeed refunded two times. Once on 6-19-02 for the amount of 47.00 and the other on 6-26-02 for the amount of 47.00. Please be advised that we will have to charge your card for the amount of 47.00 due to a double refund. This is now an issue with your bank. You will need to contact them as to why the refund did not show up.
...
THANK YOU!!

Rebecca R. Ward
Customer Service
Computer Geeks Discount Outlet
..."

Not only have I contacted the bank, but the bank and I have taken drastic measures to prevent this fraudulent charge from going through. THIS IS their problem, as the money may have been posted, but not in my account. So now they're going to try and get more money out of me because of their incompetence!?!? Now I must wait for them to send me this "proof" as it is obvious an attorney is going to be necessary [scratch that...the bank has assured me they can handle this situation]. What will prove to be more amazing is I bet they manage to get the account right for the withdrawl!

This crap is insane.

Does anyone not agree this is ludicrous? Is this the kind of business you all find acceptable????

My bank has offered to close this account, and open a completely new one, free of charge...mighty nice of the bank (yes, including a new check card and new checks). But I think I'd rather let them try and get the money, and let them deal with the penalties afterwards. I have already had them block my previous Visa number that was used with computer geeks, but they say it is still possible for the debit to incur (I consider this drastic, since I use my Visa CC for all my spending).

And they [CompGeeks] have not responded to my request for a copy of these documents they claim prove the money was deposited in my account.

I understand you are upset, but do not use profanity on these Forums!

Well, it does sound like garbage. Is your bank willing to reverse the charges? In any case, I recommend that people use a real credit card (not a debit card) for on-line purchases whenever possible-the legal protections on getting your money back when you get screwed are much stronger when you use a credit card than any other form of payment.

Bangkok is about right! ComputerGeeks just won't listen to me. But it's obvious they've sent their money somewhere...I just haven't seen it. They just think they're smarter than I am...they insist they're right...but "I'm telling your who I am, Joe!"

As for the credit card thing, it is much better in situations like these, but so long as I get the dispute in within 90 days of the post, I'm covered just as well. I try to stay away from the credit cards, as I'm a bit of a tight wad, and don't like to pay interest on anything...though it's occasional use to keep my credit going is a must (yes, I know if I pay it immediately, no interest will incur). I just get too tempted to think of my limit as money in my hand...

Wow. I'm sorry to hear that. Totally out of character for them, IME (E=Experiences - I've placed 3 orders to date, all were reasonable)... I wonder what is happening. 8-|

FWIW, In the interest of protecting privacy, online information transfers/communications usually get stopped.... calling them and acting calmly will be better for your cause.

I think you should send them an email with a link to this thread
and ask them if they are really ready for the negative publicity.
Ask them if they want your experience recorded here.

Calling who calmly? The bank? Why would I not be calm and cool with the bank? If you're referring to CompGeeks, I was calm for a more than acceptable time frame. And I've been a customer of their's for sometime [6 purchases totalling $333.30...quite a bit for a bunch of little crap]. I will give them no more of that, as they have failed to give me any professionalism in this matter. Not to mention most of the products I ordered from them were junk, and arrived defective, or became that way very quickly (and I didn't even return most of the bad parts, since adding the shipping cost would have been silly for such cheap parts). The only two RMA's I've done with them was a PSU and this recent Video Conferencing kit...the rest got thrown away (mouse, kb, floppy, and speakers).

[UPDATE] Nerves were calmed as I have been given a new "case worker" to solve the situation. RW accused me of credit card fraud...and that was all I could take of her crap.

Well, it's the end of the day, and no response despite repeated requests for this "proof" of deposit.

[UPDATE] Took two weeks to get them to fax me these documents.

Well, RW finally gave up on trying, and sent my problem to Ms.G, who informed me that it should have been on her desk "months ago". Things seemed to be brighter...but I'm afraid it was all a front. Ms.G. accomplished more in 4 hours than RW did in two months...and then quit communicating! Where are you Ms.G? Are you sick? PLEASE DON'T LEAVE ME! Last thing she told me was to call the bank and file for a missing deposit and to let her know if I need anything else, which I did. I wanted to confirm the last digits of the card they are using, as in their faxes to my fax machine, they blacked them out. She has not responded to my last three emails.

But anyway, since compgeeks leaves me out in the cold, I must wait up to 5 more business days to hear back from the bank...and go from there...again.

Today is day 70 of the refund issue! I think it was early March when I first attempted to obtain the RMA for this return.
