Advice on Motherboards

Hey all. My motherboard just decided to quit working and freeze up all the time (even during bootup). It used to freeze up here and there, but it's happening too much now. I think it has something to do with cooling, but I've had it for about two years now, so I'm ready to get another one. I've decided to get an Athlon XP 1800, but can't figure out what motherboard to get. My current mobo is Asus, and I don't know if I want to go back to them seeing as I had a ton of issues with the board. Any recommendations for an XP motherboard? I'm trying to keep costs down too. Any input would be appreciated.

I suggest the EPOX 8KHA+. But I might be a little biased because I have one and love it.

That is the best. Won't freeze up even here and there. Never in fact.

So what kind of features are you looking for in a motherboard?

Raid? DDR? onboard video audio?

I'm looking for the following specs:

ATA 100 IDE
DDR RAM(max around 2 or 3 GB)
No onboard audio
No onboard video
at least 4 PCI slots

I've looked at XP motherboards in general, and they have just about everything I need. Some of them even have stuff I don't want (onboard audio, RAID).

I'll take a look at the EPOX that bigblue77 mentioned. Thanks for your help everyone.

The EPOX 8KHA+ has onboard audio, but other than that, it meets your requirements.

I agree.. its a good solid board and has been tried and tested and true..

I think it should support your needs and you should be able to find it for a good price out there....

Can you even avoid onboard audio? For some "higher level" things like onboard LAN, Video, or RAID, it seems like onboard audio in unavoidable...
