I've used them 4 or 5 times. Items always as described. 'Keep orders over $100.00' to avoid extra charges.
-------------------------------------
quote:
Minimum orders are now $100.00. There is a $10 surcharge for orders under the $100 minimum.
from here: http://www.evertek.com/application/web_instructions.asp

I usually try and wait until item count gets low, as they sometimes drop the price to finish them off. Never have purchased on their Wholesale "as-is" auction. Freight is billed at their cost. No problems.

edit: They also require a copy of your State Tax Permit. jw

evertek
I've done business with them for about 4 years now. Good customer support, products always as described, etc., etc.
Drawbacks: the add'l fee for orders less than $100 and shipping from CA to FL always takes at least a week. |

Computer Geeks Discount Outlet and Evertek Computer Corporation are both subsidiaries of a company called Genica. So, they are all three one in the same.
As for computer geeks, my last experience with them was...ahem, is still...a nightmare. I would only suggest their service to someone who doesn't return defective items. Because if you are the type who does, and most of us do, then you don't want to go through what I went through. And I don't trust companies that run under more than one name...pretty hoaky.
I'm not well versed in the legallities of parent/child company operations, but I'm not so sure they're opperating legitimately. I received a fax from a Computer Geeks rep, and the header on the fax read "Evertek Computer". That seems a bit too "close" to truely be seperate companies. (and as mentioned previously, they are in the same building)

Hmmm...Genica is a maker of keyboards, mice, and other small pieces of hardware (Geeks does in fact carry thier stuff, so this sounds reasonable). The three names in this case don't bother me that much. GM makes vehicles under the names Pontiac, Chevy, GMC, Oldsmobile, Saturn, Buick, and Cadillac-does that mean there's a problem with this? It is perfectly legal and legitimate to operate many businesses under different names. In fact, in this case it makes sense. Evertek sells to other computer dealers, Computer Geeks sells to consumers, and Genica is a hardware manufacturer. It is also legal and legit to use the same staff and offices for more than one business. Now, sometimes slimy businesses change names or operate under different names so the bad rep of one business doesn't rub off on the other. In this case, this does not seem to be the reason that they are doing so, because all three businesses have been around for awhile and they do different things.
In any case, my single purchase from the Geeks went smoothly, with the items being cheap, in the condition as advertised, arriving on time, well packed, intact, and functional. But I didn't have to return anything.

I've ordered from "geeks" as well and I got a great deal and everything went great. But as Geotpf mentioned I also didn't have to return anything. I would order from them again....IMO....
