possible scam ! stay away from thedigitalhunter.com

i called because i found a very low price on a canon speedlite 580ex ii for $379. off the bat the sales person tried a bait and switch. i was told that the unit is actually a grey market unit from japan and would not work as well as a U.S. version of the same unit "because of the sensor" complete bs. anyways they tried to sell me the U.S. version for $100 more, which is over priced for this item.The salesman then went on to explain that it would take 3 weeks to get me the item since it was comming from japan and i would have to pay for shipping and insurance from japan but he could not tell me how much.... sounds like a great outfit to give your credit card # to ???

To DavidC397,

We advertise both USA & IMPORT model units on this flash which is clearly stated on the first line of the specifications tab on our site. the import model does take 21 days to be delivered because yes it does ship from overseas.

also we DO NOT charge any shipping on standard ground shipment , so your statements are false, the USA MODEL on the flash is selling on our site $479 which is a very competitive price.

Per the WhoIs for TheDigitalHunter.com the domain has a private registration and was just registered 22DEC2010, 6 months ago.

Their Contact Us page contains only a e-mail and a phone number. I have been unable to find any address so far. Per a reverse phone number search via WhitePages the number 954-744-1565 is a unlisted number in the Hollywood, Pembroke Pines, Florida area.

They do have six reviews at DIGITALHUNTER Reviews at Nextag.com at present, all dated between 20-24MAY2011.

Oddly, all 10 of these listed reviews are 5/5 and all within the last week.

Confusing and untrusted

I have to agree with David. I found their site looking for deal on Canon 5D. I wanted to purchase it, but... after researching reviews I started to doubt that is a real deal. Send email next day with my concerns, nobody answered so far

Getting burned by digital hunter

These guys are bad news. Phone number on the website is in Hollywood Florida, they are associated with a store or operation in brooklyn as this is where the product is shipped from.
You know when things look to good to be true...it is.
Their website is covered by the promise of a 60 day money back guarantee, but beware. If you order something over the phone make sure they send you a copy of what you are buying before you give them your credit card...all I can say is you will be sorry.

The BBB now has a report on this company. Curent BBB report gives a rating of NR, or No Rating.

Also, as shown in Post #5 (above) this company has a BBB Reliability Program icon on their website.
This business is NOT BBB Accredited.

Worst service ever!

These guys have the worst customer service I have every seen!!

I bought a Nikon 5100 7 weeks ago and still have not received it. When I purchased it there was no back order or waiting list. I was called by their team member the day after I made the purchase to confirm my order and to tell me that the camera did not come with a battery and charger. After finding this ridiculous since all Nikon closed boxes have these items, I kindly asked to give me 10 minutes while I checked out how much these items would cost me. I found them very cheap online and called them back within 10 minutes to confirm. They responded by saying my order had been cancelled. He reconfirmed my order but said that it would now be on a 10-12 day back-order. I was annoyed but the price was great and my family reunion was still more than a month away so I still had plenty of time to receive the camera. 2 weeks go by and the order is still on back-order, so I kindly wrote to their customer service. I stated that I had bought this camera because I had a special family moment that I wanted to capture in my life and to please contact me with a delivery date. 1 week goes by and no response by their customer service. I then called about a week before my family get-together. I was still very kind and understanding with their customer service team but I wanted answers and I wanted my camera. No date of deliver could be provided and there was no empathy for my situation. I work in customer service as well and this would be considered a "customer recovery" situation. A situation in which you are repetitively at fault, we are trained to give the customer anything reasonable they request to try to keep the customer and try to prevent bad reviews and bad word of mouth. Obviously, their customer service has no such training and care very little for your customers. It would have been very easy for them to send me an upgraded camera in-stock, a lower grade camera with a discount or the same USA camera version. Nothing was offered. Nothing constructive was even said by their customer service. I left it that my only request was that since they were at fault for this delay to contact me via phone or email updating me with the status of my purchase. Another 2-3 weeks have gone by and I have not heard anything from their team!! Also, I really appreciate their convenient 11-4 eastern time hours for contacting customer service. You have to be kidding me! I am leaving on my trip to Italy in 12 days and still have no camera.

Their website currently has the Nikon D5100 on sale and says that it ships in 2-3 days.

What a bunch of criminals!

I wish I research before I order just like you did. Their website is misleading. You thought you get a good deal but it's just a catch. And you cannot cancel an order without a FEE.
