Clarification on the rules please.

Quote:
3. NO underground bidding or solicitation to buy is allowed. Do not email or PM the person offering to buy. Any and all prices suggested must be posted in the forum. Please report a member if you are solicited for a sale.
Just to make sure I'm clear on this issue, I want to explain how I read this statement. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

If someone starts a FS thread an list a price for items, one should not PM or email the seller with a price he/she would pay for the item. But instead only post it in the thread itself.

Example:

Jon Doe post a FS thread:
---------------------------------------------------
FS - Hard Drives:

Hey Guy's I have some hard drives I would like to sell. Here they are.

2 - 300 MB $10 each
2 - 3 GB $30 each
1 - 20 GB $100

Let me know if your interested.
---------------------------------------------------

Jane Doe responds:
---------------------------------------------------
PM
---------------------------------------------------
Or she might not even reply but just PM Jon.

Now what she PM'ed was a message saying she would like to buy the 20 GB, but she thinks the price is a little high for a used 20GB drive, so she offers $75.
---------------------------------------------------

Now is what Jane Doe did frowned upon? When are PM or email approiate? I know I wouldn't like a reply saying "I think your charging to much" or "Your prices are inflated," and I know tread "crapping" (if I may) is frowned upon? So if I could become inlighten on what the approriate use of PM and email is, I would much appricate it

Thanks
LK

LittleKing, I think you've misunderstood. That rule #3 is in the section pertaining to price check topics, NOT For Sale topics.

Oooooooooooooh, I believe I understand. There is to be now PM or emailing about a price before it's forsale. That way nobody get a headstart when the product actually goes on sale.

So then one the item is for sale, PM'ing with a special price is excepted?

Hi Little King

As Ed S stated, that rule is only for *Price Checks* in the Traders Forum. If you have priced items posted For Sale, then yes, it's absolutedly OK to email / PM to negotiate the sale.

There should be NO emailing or PM'ing about offers to buy from Price Check threads until the item is actually re-listed For Sale.

They are, in full:

Price Check threads will be allowed only if the following conditions are met.
1. Computer Items: Older, rare, hard-to-price, which means, if it's not listed on Pricewatch, then it will be allowed. If an item is found on Pricewatch, your thread will be deleted without warning.
2. Non-Computer Items: If it is no longer for sale by online vendors. If a non-computer item is found to be listed for sale by a vendor, your thread will be deleted without warning.
3. NO underground bidding or solicitation to buy is allowed. Do not email or PM the person offering to buy. Any and all prices suggested must be posted in the forum. Please report a member if you are solicited for a sale.
4. No dibs in price check threads.
5. If and when you wish to sell the item a new thread must be started for the FS. Notify me to close the price check thread before you list FS.
6. Interest checks are not allowed. Do not post interest check threads or they will be deleted without warning.
7. Other items: If you're unsure about whether to place a price check thread on an item or items, contact me.
