Researching a suspect policy _ Sears
We "purchased" a dishwasher just over two months ago and am still waiting to take delivery. Many excuses, computer glitch didn't get ordered, computer glitch given to another customer, and then just plain back ordered. I heard from an internet source that I probably will never get the dishwasher as the item is now on sale for $125 more than we paid (previous sale). Meanwhile Sears is using my money. Is there a agency that would investigate this type of practice. I hate to give up on it but if I'm never going to get it at the price sold, I want it off my credit card.

I have relatives coming next week and I am going to have them be my secret shopper. If Sears says they have the washer available now at the regular price, the store manager and I are going to have an in depth talk.

2 months waiting for an appliance delivery is awful - I would recommend calling the store and asking for the manager to explain your grievances, and since you have already made the deal and they have charged you for the product, you should not back down unless they give you the product at the lower price, even if the store price has been increased, as the delivery was delayed through no fault of your own.

Don't back down
I agree with Sylee. They have to honor the original sale price. Go to their website and see if it's available, or call their toll-free number. Two months is too long to wait for any brand new appliance.

It's a shame to see what has happened to Sears over the years (my recollection goes back to the 70's). They are (in my opinion) an empty shell of what they used to be.
My mom tried to order a cordless (battery-operated) reciprocating saw from them a little over a month ago via online order. Total time to delivery was over a month for something that was supposedly in stock and that she would supposedly have in a few days, with much run-around on phone calls asking what was going on, "outsourced" customer service call centers, lied to multiple times about whether order had actually shipped (when the tracking number she was given only ever showed up "Billing Information Received" running through FedEx for almost 2 weeks, and it was SmartPost service on top of that). And the price? She would have been better off for what they charged her to go down to the local Lowe's and buy something off the shelf.
When she finally did get it, the saw didn't even come with a battery! No information whatsoever to that effect in the product details. Another call to customer service (which from her description I would say their customer service calls are answered in Pune) - "Oh you have to buy that separately, but the stores are probably not going to have it on hand. would you like me to help you order one?". NOBODY else I know of that does retail/pseudo-retail online sales of cordless power tools packages them without a battery and a charger. Whether their rechargeable batteries are "all standard" between all their cordless tools or not.
So much for Craftsman being a name that means anything.
And we wonder why the US economy is in the toilet.
