Home Center: Plumbing and lighting products for the kitchen or bathroom, and irrigation supplies.

Homecenter.com Home Improvement Products Scam

I recently fell victim to the Homecenter.com scam. HomeCenter.com - Home is a cleverly disguised and fraudulent drop ship business. I've detailed my experience both here (in the review section) and on my web page at From: HomeCenterFool.

I encourage everyone who has been victimized by this company to file a complaint. In another post below, I've provided links to the proper authorities where you can file your complaint. Homecenter has been stealing money from customers for the past 10 years. It's time that something was done about it. If enough complaints are filed, maybe we can put a stop to it.

Homecenter's scam depends on attracting a lot of first time customers, the people who don't visit sites like this. The only way to help those people is to spread the word. If you've read this, tell two people and tell them to tell two people. If word is spread, we can eventually run this scam operation out of business.

It's clear why Homecenter.com wants to advertise lower prices

Home Center: Plumbing and lighting products for the kitchen or bathroom, and irrigation supplies.

Mininum Advertised Price

Homecenter.com is against MAP because it cuts down on the number of customers they can attract to their scam. For them, the advertised price is meaningless because after you order, the price is raised an arbitrary amount through fees charged for prompt shipment. If that is too distasteful for you, they offer to cancel your order for even larger fees.

It's not surprising that they would sue for the right to advertise lower prices than everyone else. It's only surprising that after running this scam for 10 years, the New York office of the attorney general hasn't sued them.

The Homecenter.com Scam is Much Worse!

Home Center: Plumbing and lighting products for the kitchen or bathroom, and irrigation supplies.

Homegoodz.com vs Homecenter.com

I ordered once from Homegoodz. When they didn't ship the order right away, and were unresponsive to inquiries about shipment, I knew that it was at minimum a dishonest business. However, I was able to cancel my order with them without a problem. No cancellation fees were charged to my credit card.

I ordered only once from Homecenter.com as well. Like Homegoodz, they didn't ship the order right away and were unresponsive to inquiries about shipment. However, when I attempted to cancel the order, they refused to cancel it without charging large fees.

Homecenter.com is a drop ship business. Everything is advertised to be in stock but nothing is actually stocked. In my case, the product I ordered was discontinued by the manufacturer (Danze) and never shipped to Homecenter. Despite this, Homecenter charged me a 40% fee, 25% for restocking + 15% for return authorization.

In Homecenter's virtual reality, the discontinued product had been shipped to them and they had returned it to Danze, thereby subjecting it to a 40% cancellation fee. In reality, the product was never shipped or returned. I was so disgusted with Homecenter.com that I detailed my experience on my web page at From: HomeCenterFool.

Both Homegoodz.com and Homecenter.com are rated F (lowest rating) by the New York Better Business Bureau.

I would advise anyone who is ordering home improvement products to shop elsewhere. Homegoodz.com is bad, but Homecenter.com is much worse.

Homecenter.com Scam! (Home Improvement: Plumbing, Lighting, Irrigation, etc.)

Home Center: Plumbing and lighting products for the kitchen or bathroom, and irrigation supplies.

I have noticed a recent increase in the number of complaints being filed against Homecenter.com at the New York Better Business Bureau.
Homecenter.com is rated F (lowest rating) by the New York BBB.
HomeCenter.com Review - HOME CENTERS in New York, NY - BBB Reliability Report - BBB serving Metropolitan New York, Long Island, and the Mid-Hudson Region

File Your Complaint

If you've already been victimized by Homecenter.com, do something about it. You can help prevent others from falling victim to this scam, and hopefully get the New York Attorney General to take notice if you file your complaint.

You can file a complaint at each of the following offices. All of these are easy to fill out online forms, with the exception of the New York Office of the Attorney General. The NYOAG form must be printed and mailed.

New York Better Business Bureau:
Check Out a Business or Charity - New York BBB
type Homecenter.com for the business name, then click File Complaint to file your complaint.

New York Department of Consumer Affairs:
DCA - On-Line Complaint Form.

FBI Internet Crimes Form:
Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) | File a Complaint

New York Office of the Attorney General:
http://www.ag.ny.gov/resource_center..._complaint.pdf

Last year (2009), the New York Attorney General’s office clamped down on seven New York internet businesses that utilized fraudulent business practices to steal money from consumers. Two were shut down and five were forced to pay fines and modify their business practices. Both the New York BBB and NYOAG have formed relationships with resellerratings.com with the purpose of identifying fraudulent businesses:
ATTORNEY GENERAL CUOMO SECURES AGREEMENTS WITH SEVEN ELECTRONICS COMPANIES IN NEW YORK FOR USING ILLEGAL ONLINE BUSINESS PRACTICES TO SCAM CONSUMERS NATIONWIDE.

While the Homecenter.com scam differs from the ones previously prosecuted, it is equally fraudulent. Although the individual losses may be small ($120 in my case), the collective loss to customers over the past 10 years must be in the millions. The only way to stop this fraud is to make the authorities aware, and the only way to do that is to file your complaint.

Do your part to help stop these fraudulent operations from stealing and getting away with it. File your complaint!

Homecenter.com: Fraudulent Drop Ship Business for Home Improvement Products

Home Center: Plumbing and lighting products for the kitchen or bathroom, and irrigation supplies.

Online Fraud

It is fraud when a company devises deceitful ways to attract customers, entrap them, and then steal their money. There are many companies out there that employ various fraudulent tactics to steal your money. It's a lot safer and easier than robbing a bank.

The worst company that I've encountered in 10 years of online shopping is HomeCenter.com - Home. This company advertises a vast array of plumbing, lighting, irrigation, kitchen, and bathroom remodeling products. I was so disgusted by Homecenter that I created my own web page (From: HomeCenterFool) to document my experience and warn others of this fraudulent drop ship scam.
