Finding a "pen/wand" reader for magnification

At least a year ago or longer, I saw a device which could be used to read or visualize text or items and have them shown on the monitor for enlargement. I have a student with very limited eyesight and this could be helpful. Now I can't remember where I saw it or what it was called. Does anyone remember seeing such a device?

All version of Windows have "Accessibility Options" that will help with this.

Windows only works with items/pages from the internet etc. It can't scan pages.
