Hard Drive warranty question

I need to acquire several 2.5 hard drives and have looked at NewEGG, Cyberguys, and MacSales plus a few more. They all say they have a three year warranty but are OEM. Western Digital support disagrees with them. No warranty on OEM says WD. Has anyone tried to get service on an OEM and been successful?

All but one Western Digital hard drive I've ever purchased (and it's been close to a dozen over the last 10 years) has been OEM, and warranty service has never been a problem. You can check warranties on their site by entering the serial number, and all claims are done online. They even have cross shipment of replacement units if you provide them a credit card number.

Perhaps WD's definition of OEM means drives that are actually shipped in PCs built by HP, Dell, etc, in which case you would go through those companies to get service.
