LORIMER ELECTRONICS: REFURBISHED ITEM SOLD AS NEW

When buying anything on-line, make a point of checking out the manufacturer's website. Confirm what is supposed to be in the box and indeed, what the box is supposed to look like.

Lorimer Electronics has palmed off a refurbished Canon PowerShot SX10 IS as being new. I immediately contacted them with concerns, they acted like they were going to address them (the most important being a missing warranty card), but then engaged in delays. After threats of actions against them, they have offered to take it back, but expect me to make the effort and risk my money in the return process, something I am unwilling to do.

There is a substantial difference in price that can be made by selling a refurbished unit at the new price. Just because it looks "new" does not mean it is new.

I think the bottom line for me is, I would never have "found" this company if it were not for Google Shopping. With a myriad of companies popping up and closing all the time, a major retailer, like BestBuy or even a major site with enormous consumer protection, like Amazon, is the only way to go, even if that means paying 10-30% more! I even looked up Lorimer Electronics on the Better Business Bureau, but did not find any complaints (which should have been a clue - even good company will have some complaints filed against them - the resolutions are what matter). I believe they are a "new" company connected with many other companies (even on this site, I don't think reviews are much older than July, yet the company claims 25 years of business). It is a shell game that makes it hard for the consumer to really be certain of who they are dealing with.

What is amazing is, even after being confronted with the evidence, this company is not acceding to my reasonable request. There is no mistake in this matter. It is outright fraud and I will have to spend more time filing complaints with various organizations.

Use internet prices and dealers with extreme caution.

I had a really bad experience with this company....they charged me and I paid in full....they sent me the wrong item and would not help me get the correct item.....refused to reply to emails and resulted in paying a higher price for the wrong item... Very Very unhappy customer....and they would not help me.

go elsewhere...pay more if you have to....

Today their rating is 1.47. Sorry you guys got scammed, but HELLO!!!.
Next time try J&R or B&H. You will always get what you ordered, no subs or grey market (unless its what you ordered), and always fresh NEW merchandise. Excellent customer service and no BS.
