DIGITAL HAWKS is a rip-off artist - CAUTION

I ordered a Canon Digital PowerShot A1000 camera and a 2GB SD memory card from DigitalHawks.com in Brooklyn, NY.

The day after I placed my order, the seller called and informed me that the card I had ordered would not work well in the camera – he said it would take 6 seconds to shoot a picture and the video mode wouldn't work at all. He told me that I should instead order a different card that was double the price. I knew that the card I ordered would work, as my daughter has the exact same camera with a smaller card and it works fast and well both for still shots and video. I told the man I wanted to delete the card from my order. The seller said he wouldn't do that and would send what I had ordered. He rudely hung up on me.

I received the camera 16 days later and I was surprised to find that it was not the gray camera I had ordered but PURPLE instead. I also found that it was missing the 32 MB card that the manual says is included (and that my daughter received with her camera). It was also missing some of the usual plastic packaging and wrapping that comes with new items – the batteries were not packaged as new and after using the camera for ten minutes the batteries were dead. I have to wonder if the camera has been used before. It was supposed to be new and stated that a manufacturer’s warranty was included.

I am NOT pleased with the fact that the seller lied to me and that I received a product color that I did NOT order and which has a missing part and used batteries.

I would NOT order from this merchant again. I don’t trust him.

FOLLOW-UP POST two days later:

The THE DIGITAL CAMERA I GOT IS BROKEN. I thought it was just the batteries, but now I found out it's the camera!! After 10 minutes of use, no matter what new batteries I put in, the camera says "change batteries" and the screen goes black and the camera shuts down.

DigitalHawks poses as a dealer of NEW equipment, saying on their webstie that the products have a 1-year manufacturers' warranty. The camera I bought did NOT have the warranty card enclosed.

I won't list the website which shows further such negative reviews, but I'll just say that one should research DigitalHawks before purchasing from them. I wish I hadn't wasted my time and money...

you have to be careful with Brooklyn dealers unfortunately. I have had bad experience with them personally. There is a lot of info out there showing that you should read reviews lengthy.. sometimes you need to check out the person who writes the review. if they joined the same day of the review then dont write anything else that can be a red flag. most people dont write good reviews unless they feel an obligation to inform the public of good suppliers. unfortunately some sites have faked reviews. i haven't found to many problems with this site. some reviews i would question but the reviews in themselves arent guarantees of a safe sound purchase there are just individual experiences, but they can be helpful especially right now. dont worry just chock it up as a learning experience. if you feel you need to inform others thats fine too. i looked them up on bbb.org and they dont have a rating currently as a business. just another note did you try and contact them and see if they would listen to what happened? a good business would try and correct your problem. if not and they are rude again its most likely a shady operation or at least shady customer service. i would also make sure that the product you ordered is exactly as described. if not like you mentioned about some of the things. make note of this. e.i. memory card included, warranty card, color, check for model and make sure it was what you ordered to a T.. ect. this may tell you if they pulled a switch on you in the last minute. some businesses give you old models or different models all together that are refurbished or even just plain unusable.

i google mapped them and they also have 3 other businesses listed at this address. i also happen to know that a ton of other questionable businesses are located near and around this address. a lot of them are on this street.

in my opinion i would be weary. thanks for sharing your info

Three phone calls to Digital Hawks - 3 different lies

Call #1 12-21 Fuji finepix in stock ordered

Call #2 Dec 28 "was shipped last week sometime-call in a few hrs to get shipping number"

Call #3 Dec 29 " it wasn't in stock - will be shipped today: I told them their reviews sucked and they replied they didn't care and were only making $2 on this order - if I didn't like it I could cancel.

Scum will be scum by why doesn't NY State have a decent atty general for consumers ?-they certainly tax people enough.

I think anyone who visits this forum regularly pretty much gives any electronics (especially cameras) dealers in that area a wide berth.It seems to attract scam artists in that particular consumer market for some reason.

It is now January 11 and I still get stories that it has been shipped out. The NY Atty General is more interested in high profile cases that aid his political career. Digital Hawks lies constantly and keeps you on hold -then disconnects.

WHEN I CALLED TO CANCEL MY ORDER THEY HUNG UP THE PHONE ON ME. I ASKED FOR A CONFIRMATION EMAIL AND JUST NOW THEY GIVE ME THE OPPOSITE A RECEIPT/ PURCHASE CONFIRMATION. AND THE GUY ALLAN SAID MY CARD WAS REFUNDED FOR THE AMOUNT OF 560.00 $ IT STILL HASN'T BEEN VOIDED OR REFUNDED. They are running the same scam operation don't use this site either. You will end up getting broken damaged merchandise that they won't refund/ take back as return read their ridiculous terms and conditions it doesn't sound like the want to customer satisfaction and all the hidden charges you have to pay restocking fees, shipping back and forth , freight carriers, accepting tvs as is condition and all the other electronic sales that are final or not returnable, but worse off you can end up having your credit card charged and no merchandise shipped...please read all the horror stories they have imprinted on burned customers! I STILL HAVEN'T HAD MY CREDIT CARD REFUNDED EVEN AFTER THEY SAID THEY HAVE VOIDED THE SALE!

THEY GAVE ME A BOGUS RECEIPT /PURCHASE CONFIRMATION WITH JUST THE TOTAL OF $558.49 CHARGED TO MY CREDIT CARD THEY DIDN'T EVEN HAVE AN ITEMIZED INVOICE WHAT I WAS BEING CHARGED FOR MEANWHILE IT WAS SUPPOSED TO THE CANCELLATION EMAIL I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR! THEY THINK THEY ARE SLY WHAT A POOR EXCUSE FOR A ORDER CONFIRMATION! THEY JUST DO THAT SO WHEN SOMEONE RECEIVES AN ORDER THEY DON'T HAVE PROOF OF WHAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE IN THAT ORDER OR ITEMIZED/ PAYING FOR.

FUNNY WHEN I WANT THE CANCELLATION EMAIL THEY FINALLY SEND YOU A CONFIRMATION EMAIL OF YOU BUYING THE PRODUCT NOT WHEN YOU ORIGINALLY PURCHASED IT AND WAS WAITING FOR ONE FOREVER! EVEN AFTER I CALLED TO CANCEL ON THE PHONE AFTER BEING HUNG UP ON I EMAILED TO PUT IN WRITING FOR MY PROOF THAT I DO NOT WANT THEIR PRODUCT OR AUTHORIZE CHARGES ON MY CREDIT CARD BUT THEY STILL CONTINUE TO SEND MY CONFIRMATION PURCHASE RECEIPT AND NO VOID ON MY CREDIT CARD!

(347) 554-8290 BESIDES THE TWO 800 NUMBERS THAT RING FOREVER AND YOU GET THE SAME TWO GUYS ALL THE TIME! 800-219-8044 / 800-319-9811 THEN THEY GAVE ME SOME 619 NUMBER ON MY VOICEMAIL I COULDN'T MAKE OUT AT 9 PM MEANWHILE THE BUSINESS HOURS ON THE WEBSITE SAY UP UNTIL 8:30PM. BE CAREFUL DON'T LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOU OR ANYONE! (another person wrote)
For any one reading this, I have found 3 different names associated with this company. The web site is digitalhawks.com. At the bottom of there contact page it is EMS Wholesale Trading DBA Digitalhawks.com and the caller ID from the phone call I got from them confirming the order was Jay Trading Inc. The day after I placed my order this guy calls (caller ID says Jay Trading Co., return address on box says Simon Hawk, my credit card statement says EMS Trading). Digital Hawks' website indicates that the camera is covered under a 1-year manufacturer's warranty, but no warranty card was included in the box.

Its really important to fill out the Attorney General Complaint form with NY Attorney General's Office, and then point out when you see articles about The NY AG running for Governor to point out he needs to do his current job better before seeking higher office (and I prefer Dems too but fair is fair).

Burn you should also alert Nextag and other forums about their stuffing the ballot boxes. Posting here is nice but does nothing to change.
After a month of lies - I got my money back.
