Is it safe buying Roomba batteries on eBay?

They look exactely the same, however the price is significantly less. What technology would they have to use to get such a difference in price?

Has anyone analyzed the battery cells in cheaper batteries? Do they use the same chemistry? What specifically is different?

First, I would not allow a photograph to be a determining factor. Often some stock photo or one found on the Web is used.

Secondly, whenever you deal with a generic brand, the quality of the Vender and how well they know the products they sell becomes all that more important. In the case of a battery, a problem might not surface until much later.

A brand-name (if a good one) can give you some assurance of at least some minimum of quality. Ask yourself just how important quality/performance is in that intended use and act accordingly.

Well ... bought a couple of replacement batteries from intelligent_robots on ebay. They have a perfect score from users on roomba batteries. Hopefully it'll work nice.
