subflava1...

How did your problem with XFX turn out? I'm having problems getting a resolution for a faulty XFX VGA cooler.

I did register within 30 day's, but can't seem to get an RMA for a fan that's screaming like a jet engine.

Best,

Liquid Cool

If lifetime only applies registering within 30 days...then the manufacturer &

retailer is obligated to state it on their website under "specs" and not keep it buried of the manufacturers website on the bottom some where. BTW, this is nothing new...Before the Internet, registration cards were always required to be mailed back to the manufacture to insure any warranty work...
In all fairness to the manufacture, the registration period is to insure that the warranty applies only to the original buyer of the product.

BTW, prior to the Internet, mail registration was required to insure warranty work...

Moreover, it is not the retailer, but the end users responsibly for any and all warranties and conditions thereof...

I was actually able to get XFX to accept my RMA. They sent me a Geforce 9500GT to replace my faulty 7900GT. I think the 9500GT is slightly lower performing than the 7900GT, but it was close enough so I didn't bother arguing with them.

They gave me a hard time with the registration issue at first, but I re-checked all the documents that came with the video card and *NOTHING* in the box or manuals says anything about needing to register. I bought my video card before they had this requirement, so there was no way I could have known about the requirement after the fact. I explained this to them and actually agreed and accepted my RMA. I'm not happy with the fact that I had to do my own research and digging to find this out...

Subflava1,

Well I'm glad you at least got your RMA worked out. I finally got mine today and they we're nice enough to pay for shipping it to them.

Funny, you mention the 9500GT, that was what I was trying to RMA. The one I received had a 2 wire fan header for the VGA cooler and it was stuck on full speed and non-adjustable. Hence, the comment about jet engine's. We could hear the card from 50 ft.

When I started viewing pictures around the web of the card, I realized all of those 9500GT's had 4 wires(IE: adjustable fan headers) and mine only had two...so I looked at the PCB, there were 4 holes, only two used. I don't know where the slip up came in, but a full speed fan of that size...as mentioned. Loud.

Other than the VGA cooler, I didn't have any problems with the card, seemed to work just fine. Just put in the earplugs and you're on your way....

All kidding aside. I felt for awhile there, I was getting a brush off...but glad it worked out - for both of us.

Best,

Liquid Cool

Ahh adhesion contracts... If it is really not stated anywhere, you can definitely pursue this...however, the most you'd get is the honor of the warranty.
