Laptop Build It Yourself?
The wife is looking to build her own laptop and was wondering if the members at RR, have any personal recommendations? Is it a good idea and which companies would you use?
Thank you kindly, for your due considerations...

You can Google - Barebone Notebook (or laptop) and maybe find a little something. As I recall - its MUCH Cheaper to just get a prebuilt.

She just returned a 17" HP back to Costless, because she could not downgrade the OS...The cost of that lapper was $700.oo...
The OS was GatesVista, which would hang about 20% of the time on start up...The HP would not allow for a downgrade to XP!

Then pick out one of the Dell's that has both OS's and don't get the additional XP cd...That way you'll know for sure you can get XP drivers from Dell |

Or you could buy something from Powernotebooks.com, which gives you the option to not have any OS installed.

I do like the ability to really customize one's computer with powernotebooks.com...Plus, there ranking is about as high as one can get....

| Powernotebooks.com is a good place to buy a laptop, however, after further review, one can not say the same about Sager computers...
The website does ofter Crown, made by MSI, as an alternative...Although more costless, I believe the wifey will give them due consideration...

Why couldn't you just format the harddrive to wipe what is there? Then use the copy of XP Pro that you have as a boot disk and install the O/S. That's generally what I do whenever I buy a new PC anyways. Don't have to worry about all the preinstalled junk either.
