Newegg has always been 1 of my suppliers until

recently . But since they insist on using DHL for small orders I am going to have to find another supplier for my memory . Newegg does not ship to P.O.Boxes but for some reason they want to use a remailing service like DHL .The reason this a problem is I live in a rural area with no mail delivery only P.OBoxes . Well if you call them and request that they not use DHL they more or seem to think your idiot as everyone knows mail is delivered to eveyone house . They're only other option is to change the shipping method when I order , of course that means I end having to pay for the shipping . The main reason I order from Newegg is the free shipping if I am going to pay for shipping I might as well order from Compusa at least they have 1.99 shipping .

I was very surprised and skeptical of this thread as well, but then again... Who the hell buys something ONline with a check?

Newegg always goes the extra mile to get products before their estimate. I bought so many things from Newegg and I haven't even written a review on resellerratings for them.

Oh I love Newegg's prices

it's just they're customer service that is lacking . When you call with a problem you only seem to get canned answers read from a sheet . In the few times I have called customer service it has seemed that the person you speak with has put thier brain in a drawer and can only read from the sheet . There seems to be no sense of initiative on the part of customer service personnal , if it is not part of the canned answers they just start repeating themselves . I should say that this only seems to happen when question them on shipping . In all other instances they have generally been more than helpful with my questions .

Startdust59,

Look through the NewEgg reviews. They usually respond to ones that were not very favorable to them. Within those, you should see a contact for one of their CSR's. I believe his name is Jason. I dealt with him directly when I had some issues regarding a defective item and some shipping issues that I had a few years back. He took care of me and that is what has kept me coming back to NewEgg along with their low prices.

Thanks Merg ,
I order from twice or three times a month and 95% of the time it is great . I guess I get hacked off when I place an order an they ship it via DHL from thier warehouse that is not 15 miles from my home in Tn and it takes 7 to 10 days for me to recieve it . That is if I go to the post office everyday to remind they it is coming and to please put it in my box which is against postal regs . Otherwise it gets returned to Newegg , but I will try calling Jason next time maybe he can do better than the others have in the past .

Stardust59,

When you end up with Newegg's Eggsaver Shipping, they use what is called DHL SmartMail. Basically, it is used for rural delivery of items where shipping companies normally don't go out to. In my case (Northern VA), it seems like a silly way to have stuff shipped to me.

However, basically what happens is that DHL gets the package and then delivers it to the post office to complete the delivery. The tracking number you get from DHL is also a good tracking number for the USPS. Once you see that DHL has turned over the package for local delivery, within the next day or so you should be able to use that tracking number with the USPS.

Since the postal service is really delivering the package, you shouldn't have an issue with your P.O. Box, unless it has something to do with the Delivery Confirmation that is put on those packages.

The problem comes from the fact that Newegg will not let you include your P.O.Box number in your shipping address . As there is no home delivery of mail where I live only P.O.Boxes this presents a problem . Postal regs don't allow for the delivery of mail to other than the listed address . So unless I hound my post office daily they just return the package . I also live in a rural town but UPS and Fedex deliver here everyday . If I were selling these pc's I would not mind paying the shipping but since I give 90% of the PC's away to people who can't afford computers . I can not afford to spend on shipping if I can help it .

Why can't you just create a shipping address record in your Newegg account that lists your P.O. Box? According to the Newegg FAQ:

Does Newegg.com deliver to P.O. Boxes?
Newegg.com does not ship to standard P.O. Boxes. However, Newegg.com can ship to residential P.O. Boxes in rural areas.

You state that you live in a rural area, so you should be fine. Just make sure that the P.O. Box is an authorized shipping address with your credit card company.

Oh I tried to do just that but when you complete the order you recieve an error message that Neweeg can not deliver to P.O.Boxes . I believe the rural box numbers are are just another designation for street address . Rural route box numbers are for areas that don't have typical street numbers as an example my grandparents address was Box 14 Salem Rd . I can't recieve rural route delivery only box delivery .

I heard the trick for PO boxes was this:

Joe Doe
1 P.O. Box 342
City, State, Zip

Supposedly it looks like a real street address.

Just make sure the address is listed with your credit card company.
