Is newegg the cheapest merchant for pc parts? I am looking for alternatives...

They're the cheapest one I trust.Just check the ratings.I've never had a problem with them.

tigerdirect prices are almost identical to newegg, serversupply is also another alternative (not sure how reliable)...i was hoping for more merchants...

I've never dealt with Tigerdirect,mostly because I haven't heard very good things about them from people who have.Directron is a little better,though I don't think their prices are quite as low as NewEgg.You could also check out Mwave.com.

Stick to the well rated resellers. You can shop by price then get reliable ratings to make sure you're not dealing with a ripoff joint at Store Ratings and Reviews by Real People - Trusted Online Shopping. There are actually lots of good resellers... you can try eWiz.com. Keep in mind however that all review sites are *not* created equal, ResellerRatings is the only one which goes the extra mile to make sure the reviews are accurate.

Don't expect to get consistent results with tigerdirect if you're trying to get rebates.

I consistently order from Newegg.com for my parts and have always been very happy. They are usually the lowest price I have found. Another retailer that has had comparable prices is Geeks.com/ComputerGeeks.com, but their ratings are a bit lower than Newegg's. I myself have not ordered from Geeks.com.

For alternative in pc parts I would recommend the pc parts shop - they seem to be legit - and they offer free shipping. I have a buddy in TN - he says that Newegg charges him tax - but he got a graphics card at a better price from them ( the pc parts shop ) - heres the link: www.thepcpartshop.com

I usually use Newegg

Sometimes 3B Tech is good because their prices include shipping. Limited inventory compared to Newegg but sometimes.

I use Pricewatch a lot but many of the dealers are less than trustworthy. They won't honor prices, try to upsell you to higher priced stuff, advertise stuff they don't have etc. So be careful.
