Why does NEWEGG.COM bother with DHL?

I placed an order with newegg on 12/13/08 at 4:13 am. I received from newegg a tracking # via email on 12/13/08.
I realize this is a weekend order(also eggsaver rate 3-7 day delivery), but it first shows up as shipped on DHL tracking list on 12/17/08, picked up in from the Tennessee warehouse and then to Kentucky. Now this is just plain ridiculous, hell why not just ship the 4 Gig of ram via USPS, I would have it already.
I've made numerous purchases from newegg and this has been the first issue I've had with them. I think DHL is a major problem not newegg. Everytime someone uses DHL they can never deliver to me, FED-EX and UPS always locates me with no problems. DHL stinks like a hog farm on a hot summer day.

The good news is that DHL will stop doing business in the USA and only do International shipping in the near future.

Heres a "logfile" of what DHL has done. NOTICE the part about tendered to the USPS at the top of the list, talk about bullsh!t. Newegg you should terminate any contact with DHL right away.

Same crap with me. My memory was tendered to USPS 12/16 and still do not have it. I know DHL sucks but so does USPS. Free shipping used to go via FedEx super saver 3 day. I wrote Newegg 2x with no response finally got them via online chat.

Demanded a refund which they said could take another 7-10 days. Bought the memory at tigerdirect.com.

I'm sorry - will not buy from newegg again unless FREE SHIPPING IS UPS/FEDEX. VERY VERY UNHAPPY ABOUT THIS NEWEGG.

Now they want the memory back if it arrives. I said "sure, I'll contact you after the same time it took to get to me".

Interesting that they send a UPS label for the return. I demanded a DHL/USPS label for the return and they said they only send UPS labels for returns. So they tried to save a little money and lost a customer.

Newegg has been 100000% in my book until this. Unless they start using FedEx or uPS for free shipping like they used to, I am DONE with newegg.

I rec'd mine on Tuesday, but it is still BS. I'm happy that DHL will be out of the picture soon. For NewEgg, I'll still buy from them, I've had worse difficulties with other online stores. I'd still give them 4.5 eggs, because of the past service.

I was just about to post the same thing.

I was just about to post the same complaint. I placed an order for a Windows XP cd and 1 stick of ram. Newegg.com used DHL to send the package NORTH to KY, then SOUTH and Farther WEST of my location in FL...then DHL puts it in the mail to ship it the rest of the way to me...missing the 3 to 7 days. Now it's Christmas and I didn't get what I needed by the time I needed it. No wonder DHL is having financial problems, instead of sending packages directly, they go about 900 extra miles (my gps says they more than DOUBLED the milage and the time it would take to get to me from TN)...then they drop it in a mail box and let the USPS take it from there. I went with the cheapest shipping and got screwed. If my package had been sent via USPS Media Mail, it would've cost LESS than $3.00 (I paid $3.99) and it would've arrived in time for Christmas.
Shame on DHL, I'll never use them again and I hope their business fails completely, because practices like theirs are a HUGE reason why we are having an energy crisis. AND shame on Newegg.com for using them too.
I wonder if Tigerdirect.com uses DHL?

more is less

Shipping wasn't the problem they didn't ship at all. New Egg just canceled my order on the guise the pay pal wouldn't fund. what a load of crap. They must not have had the product. Pay pal sent me the payment auth. number. Right..... new egg used the same guise once before with Bank of America and BOA said no way. Can't figure the guys out 90% of the time they ship and when it's important they screw you. By the way I was looking in my email after I wrote this and Pay Pal had given me an authorization code moments after the order was placed thus my assured feeling that my order was in good hands. As to why New Egg would cancel an order that obviously had funding is beyond me. My Girlfriend is very upset that I was emptyhanded at christmas. I'm very depressed about this. Why do they do things like this particularly when I am a regular customer. I have written several letters to customer service and was as polite as possible under the circumstances. They must be too busy to reply, too busy...too busy. If they treat regular customers like this I wonder how others that are new to them get treated.
Still sad. Dave
Oh I have tried to order through some outlets in New York and New Jersey. Wow are these guys unscrupulous.

Max, Tax and Dave,

I can sympathize with everything you are saying and the bad experiences you are having. As I have said before, NewEgg.com choosing DHL to do their delivering reflects poorly on NewEgg management for making bad business decisions. Then, to make matters worse, they often ignore customer complaints about the atrocious delivery service. Suggestion - don't waste your time calling them, file an online complaint against them with the Better Business Bureau, like I did. Then you'll see how fast they decide to rectify the situation. Hang tough, take no guff!

Same crap here with DHL. I ordered two sticks of RAM from Newegg with free shipping and got stuck with DHL. I'm in Western NC and ordered on 12/22 at 12 noon Eastern and check the tracking below.

It shipped from Memphis TN which should easily be in Western NC in 3 days. The package didn't even move for 2 days and just sat in Memphis TN, then the package sat another 2 days in Hebron KY. Still waiting for the RAM and can't track anymore since it's been handed off to USPS. What a crock DHL is. Newegg should have just shipped with USPS from the beginning since DHL can't seem to do anything without help from another shipping company.

Does NewEgg own this site? I noticed that when I posted to this column they pulled my review out of the main area. I tried to resumit it and the system won't let me . This must be how they bury their problems.
