I placed an order on Friday 11/28 for an item that was showing as IN STOCK. On Monday 12/1, I received an email that said "Your order is being processed. If there's any problem we'll contact you. Once your order has been successfully processed you will receive a separate email with shipping information later today." On Tuesday 12/2, having not received either a tracking number or any other contact about a problem with the order, I emailed them to find out the status. The reply I received was "Thank you for your order. However, we regret that one or more items are currently not in stock and are now on BACKORDER status. . . . e/t/a of new stock is expected in 2 weeks. . . . We are sorry for any inconvenience."
I emailed them to cancel the order, and in the cancellation confirmation email said "Our apologies, but we were extremely low on inventory prior to the holiday weekend. Unfortunately our inventory is not linked directly to the website. We sold out on a first come basis. We hope you understand and we do appreciate your business. Order xxxxxx will be canceled."
I will give CrazyPC credit for relatively quick responses to my emails and for not charging my credit card before the item was shipped. But the fact that "inventory is not linked directly to the website" -- . That's crazy. Crazy enough that I'll stick to other sites, like moddersmart.com, that actually show the on-hand quantity, or newegg.com that don't show an item as in stock when it's not.
