Holding Off Deals (Black Friday) - Good Idea/Bad Idea

Any out there that held off on some of the deals this Black Friday hoping that the deals will get even better as the year comes to an end? If so what are you items are you holding off on?
And is this a good idea this year?

I'm just curious because I'm still hoping a sweeter deal on a 24 inch lcd monitor. So far the it's newegg's 24 inch for $199 but no hdmi, anyone think I will find a better deal say Monday or later in the year?

I'm trying to justify buying a custom HP notebook for $629, has all the goods I'd need but still wondering if I should wait...

Don't know if this helps your decision but here are some 6' HDMI cables for $5.99

It's a coin toss if you should buy now or wait. Monday is "Cyber Monday" and many on line retailers will be having sales. Then there's the up comming rush to get Christmas sales....

As Master Jones said, a flip of a coin...

Waiting only works if the retailer has excess of inventory..My feeling is that most retailers order less stock in the face of economic uncertainty...The only way of knowing is obtaining inside information, which is difficult at best.

FWIW ...

I started watching Samsung LN52A650 HDTV prices in mid-November. Newegg had the best price (among legitimate sellers ) at $1928. Amazon wanted $2059.

On Thanksgiving Day, it went out-of-stock at Newegg.

The morning of Black Friday, I noticed that the "used" models at Amazon were now gone, and that the LN46A650 (same specs, smaller screen) was now also out-of-stock at NewEgg. So, I figured I wasn't going to get a better price on my desired TV.

The afternoon of Black Friday, Newegg had it back in stock at the same $1928 price. I bought it.

For laughs, I checked Newegg a few times over the weekend and into today to see if it remained in stock. It didn't. So I got lucky; it's a good thing I ordered when I did (assuming I want the TV now, which I do).

I've since seen some FANTASTIC deals on other TV's. But not the model I want/bought.

The moral of the story: supply and demand

Well most of the deals are over now, and bigjohn, Im glad you got yours before it was too late. I'm still waiting on mine, now I'm waiting until year end and see what's good for around christmas/year end. Let's see if it's worth it...

I'm hoping to get LG's 37" Scarlet. So far the lowest prices i've seen are at Vann's and Home Theatre Store for 889 both out of stock

It's all my fault, RR is the accomplice for letting me post such a crazy idea.

But look at the recent 19" lcd's with all the plugs and works. Most are now below $100, That was considered a deal during black friday. Even though I'm still looking for a good/cheap 24" (good luck), atleast I got my few extra hours of sleep and avoided a headache that was the crowd.
