Bad news for Rebates
If you're waiting for a rebate, you might want to give this article a read. [H] Enthusiast - Your Mail in Rebate May Be In Jeopardy
I've never been a fan of rebates,I always felt the possibility of deception and abuse of the practice existed. When millions of dollars goes missing,I'd say that's a pretty good example of this.

Personally, I've never counted on rebates. If I can get a better deal (price wise mostly) without one, I'll take it. Depending on the overall ratings of course.
I consider a MIR nothing more then a bonus. If I get it great, if I don't, ohh well. I do not let the rebate influence my purchasing decision to begin with. EDIT:

Like most people, I'm not found of rebates either..But when done right, you can usually get your money.
The good news about the company in the link above is that I've never heard of em... Quote:

The company itself only handles processing rebates for other companies,so they wouldn't be well known. But apparently they handled rebates for many computer related businesses (XFX,HP,CANON,TIgerDirect,ect.).So anyone expecting a rebate for such merchandise could be in for a disappointment.

Yeah rebates are nice in theory, but not only do the checks sometimes never show up, I'm so lazy that often I don't even bother to fill those stupid forms out. I'm pretty sure this is what the retailer/manufacture counts on though. |

Rebate issues
I use to consider a rebate but in the past few months they have gotten harder to get processed and then getting the check has been an issue with one recently. However, persistence paid off and I eventually got the check about 6 months later, last rebate on an XFX video card the processor claimed they didn't get my copy of invoice which I am 100% positive went out with the claim, I ALWAYS triple check and check again so there is no issue. I had to resubmit and am waiting on the check. I read the article at [H]Enthusiast and the thought occurs to me if mfg'ers continue to advertise rebates with their products if they might be facing a class action lawsuit in the future....any attorneys out there interested, I wonder? Of course, the consumer always loses and that thought doesn't make me optimistic.......I just look for free or cheap shipping these days with a price reduction if i can get it.
BTW....concerning the above mentioned article on how rebates work...it sounds like the same kind of fancy "ponzi" scheme that wall street investment firms have been involved in for the past few years...wish us all luck!
