Thanks for the straight skinny on HomeBrands.com. Unfortunately, I didin't do my homework before ordering an item last December. If I had found this website before ordering, I would have waited for Amazon.com to get the item back in stock. After waiting a month for my item to ship, I cancelled the order (following the directions for doing so by HB). Two weeks later they charged my Amex card but never shipped the product. After trying for over a month to contact HomeBrands via email and voice mail, I gave up and filed a dispute with American Express this morning.

The dispute process with Amex is very easy: I called the Amex Customer Service folks at 1-888-246-1076 and talked to a pleasant fellow who will undertake to get HomeBrands to issue a credit for the full amount I was charged. This last phone call almost completely restored my faith in our free-enterprise system that was so badly abused by the crooks at HomeBrands!

WARNING!!!!!

I ordered a space heater from iKitchens last summer. It was of course "Out of Stock" and was never shipped although my credit card was charged when the purchase was made. It took four months to get the charge reveresed on my credit card.

BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE ...

On Tuesday of this week my card was charged $9.95 from a company called COMM SERVICES LLC. I immediately called my card provider to dispute the charge. Upon further investigation I learned that people around the U.S. are being charged this same $9.95 and all are people who have ordered from iKitchens or one of their sister companies (HomeBrands, MetroMarket, etc.).

It seems that either credit card numbers have been stolen, sold, or some other type of fraud. COMM SERVICES LLC are charging the $9.95 and then sending an unsolicited DVD movie to the people they have illegally charged ... on a monthly subscription!

I have contacted the U.S. Secret Service and the FBI about this (Internet fraud) as well as the U.S. Postal Service (mail fraud) and I also filed a complaint with my local police department providing all relevant information.

Check your credit card bills carefully! If you have a $9.95 charge from COMM SERVICES LLC and have previously been scammed by iKitchen or one of their associated companies, report it immediately.

Unbelievable

First, I thank you for contacting me. I too had the same experience but did not associate it with ikitchens or Homebrands. I had "paid" with a Visa card. My card was not charged. The item was not shipped. Months later, I received two emails stating my order would be canceled as out of stock and that my credit card would not be charged. I also received a $9.95 charge from COMM SERVICES LLC in my Visa. I have many charges on my card and just thought I forgot what I bought. Nonetheless, Visa reversed the charge. Until you responded I did not link this to ikitchens etc. I am delighted that you reported it. If you are contacted or care to report further you may give my contact information as well and report that I had the same thing occur. I too may report it. I must disclose that I am an attorney and I take very seriously this type of fraud. I will call my local police and inquiry to whom else it should be reported to. I was concerned that they would charge my card, but did not think that they were selling the card number. Thanks for letting me know. My office email is rjacobson@WilsonJacobsonLaw.com
