TENS Machine Direct

Don't deal with this company they're obviously frauds. I paid to hire a tens machine for my daughter and they took my money but she didn't receive the machine. They woudn't answer my e-mails and I tried both their sales and customer services phone numbers but couldn't get any answer.

This maybe a case for law enforcement if you paid by check or MO, abinequine.

Same experience

Yes, I had much of the same; I sent back a tens machine asking to pay the difference to obtain a better model. No reply despite dozens of tries to both the phone number on their website, and they don't reply to emails either. I thought they had gone bust, but obviously someone has had the same sort of problem months ago and they are still selling machines. Anyone any ideas how to deal with a firm which simply refuses to admit it exists?

Very surprised to see such bad review, My wife hired a maternity tens with no problems and she also bought a pregnancy pillow and that arrived next day, I suppose all large businesses have issues. glad it went well for us though.

TENS Machine Direct

I didn't have any problem with my initial order; the machine arrived quickly, no quibbles about that. But once there was a problem (the machine had such sensitive controls that every time I bent over I gave myself an electric shock!) I discovered that the firm suddenly disappeared into thin air. Try ringing the numbers on their website or emailing them; you will soon find that there is no way of contacting them.

They're good at sending you things, just don't expect a response if you have any problems. Oh, and don't expect them to stick to their terms and conditions either.

My example:

1. Tens machine booked on 12th Nov for delivery on 1st Dec
2. My wife has the baby on 17th Nov
3. I email for a refund on the 17th Nov (well within the 7 day distance selling regulations cooling off period and the cancellation policy as stated in their terms and conditions). No response.
4. 21st Nov - I email again. No response.
5. 5th Dec - Tens machine turns up.
6. 6th Dec - I return by registered post, including print outs of both emails sent and a letter requesting a refund as per their terms and conditions. No response
7. Jan 2010, I send a letter to them by recorded delivery stating that they have 14 days to return my money otherwise I'll take them through small claims.
8. 14 days later... take them through the small claims court.
9. Early Feb 2010 - I get a one line email from them stating that they'll refund my payment by BAC's to my bank account including the court fees. No apology, no signature, just one line. I send back my bank details
10. Refund processed 3 days later, accompanied by another sulky email stating that it had been completed.

Customer service? No. Would I have gotten the refund I was entitled to if I hadn't taken them through court? Probably Not.

Don't touch them with a barge pole, there's poor customer service and then there's business practices which are borderline fraud. Taking peoples money without supplying goods, or ignoring requests to cancel an order when requested fall into the latter category.

For future reference, never, EVER deal with a company which doesn't have a phone number on their website (they've taken it off since the initial posts on this topic).

Just to clarify, we're talking about http://www.tensmachinedirect.co.uk who trade from The Barn, Landimore, Swansea. SA3 1HD.

They also trade under the names:

http://www.angelcaremonitor.co.uk
http://www.respisensemonitor.co.uk
http://www.maternitypillow.co.uk
http://www.pregnancypillow.co.uk
http://www.tensmachines.co.uk

Note that NONE of these websites have a contact phone number.

Take them through the small claims court (http://www.moneyclaim.gov.uk), apparently they respond to legal challenges.

I GOT DUPED TOO!

Ordered Tens machine 16 Feb 2010
Email receipt that it was sent out 26 Feb 2010
Contacted March 9 to follow up on delivery
Rcvd reply Wed 10 saying that it should have arrived and to check with Post Office
Checked with Post Office - not there
Emailed on Feb 13, 15 and 16 to follow up - no reply
There is no number on their website so couldn't call them
Googled them to try and find out their contact details and found this page
instead - VERY DISAPPOINTED!
Now one week away from birth and may have to give birth without this pain relief
Have just put my claim in with https://www.moneyclaim.gov.uk/csmco/claim_menu.jsp also as per recommendation of the previous posting.

DO NOT HIRE FROM THESE PEOPLE - THEY ARE CROOKS - OR, AT BEST, PEOPLE WITH NO FEELINGS WHATSOEVER, CREATING EVEN MORE STRESS FOR WOMEN AT A TIME WHEN THEY ARE MOST VULNERABLE!!

I'M NOT REALLY SURE HOW THEY CAN LIVE WITH THEMSELVES.
