Is Beach Camera to be trusted?

Same story only different.......you know...

Ordered a DSLR from Beach Camera...based on the ratings on their site......first mistake? Anyway, paid thru paypal, so they have pre-verified billing/shipping info. Shortly after the order I got a confirmation email with all the info....products ordered, addresses, amounts...yada yada yada.......all totally correct. Tonite I check my email and I have a message from them saying I need to call right away......they need to verify and confirm my order........why?

Needless to say that after reading reviews of places like Abesofmaine and the old "strong arm sales" trick of getting you on the phone and coercing you to buy something you don't want, and having just committed to giving them $600 of my money, I balk at calling them to verify anything. In fact, I sent them the following email

"Please contact us as soon as possible so that we may verify and confirm your order."

"NO! I need that camera soon. I am on a tight time table and do not have time to waste "confirming" that which has already been confirmed.

I got a CONFIRMATION EMAIL FROM YOU last night. All the information about the order is correct. There is nothing else to verify.

You got PAID by PayPal. There is no billing info to verify. My bank is processing the authorization.

You got the shipping info from PayPal. It is correct. .

I bought from you based on your many positive ratings. I trust this is not an attempt at a hard sell because I do not want anything else other than what I ordered. Nothing.

Your site says the E510 I ordered is in stock. If you do not have exactly what I ordered in stock then cancel the order.

If this response is unsatisfactory - cancel the order and I'll spend my $600 somewhere else."

Was I too hasty? Their ratings seem mixed, so naturally I'm skeptical.

What do you think?

Please verify receipt of this email with either a shipping confirmation or a cancelation confirmation.

Welcome dude!!

This company does have an excellent lifetime rating, however, in the past twelve months in appears there have been more and more complaints..

It seems to me that if problems develop, this company does not have a stellar record in dealing with them..

Crediting a CC charge can and should be done within 72 hours..

Companies that are unwilling or unable to do so, have an internal problem..

I would also suggest, to avoid companies that cannot maintain proper inventory control..If their website states that an item is in stock and its is not, IMHO, it indicts a serious flaw and should raise red flags..
