MAXFORCE PC?

Has anyone had experience with this builder? They're apparently quite new, they just appeared in the store ratings section,no reviews yet under the Maxforce name, though there are 8 favorable reviews under the Solaris Computers name they used briefly(from what I've read, they had to change their name at request from Sun Microsystems).I learned of them from product articles in Tom's Hardware and Computer Shopper, but have found little else.Their site is a bit rough and still under construction, but their prices are very good with a large selection of components. But I'm leery of any company with so little actual customer feedback available.I'm not even sure if this is an established business with multiple employees,or a one man operation.

I've always been a "when in doubt - pass" kind of guy and go with a well known company.

I have a good friend that has had two machines built for himself. One for his personal PC and the other for his parents. He found the guy initially through Tom's Hardware which endorses him.

My friend is very thorough and double checked all the components he wanted in a new computer. Cross-checking prices, etc. He went on the site and posted a question about a 1000-1500+ gaming rig. Max posted some possibles. After they ironed out the details on the components, my friend checked the parts, etc. He found that Max was able to get it cheaper than if he built it himself. He guessed Max was only making about $150 to $200 profit from the build.

I have personally used and played games on his machine and I gotta say it is TIGHT. He ended up spending an extra 270 for a 22 inch LG monitor, but that was about it. Seems like his total cost, shipping and all, was around $1500-$1600 bucks.

At his suggestion I've posted about a budget gaming rig. I'm still debating whether or not I want to spend the extra for a good custom, or buy a cheaper factory PC. But the prices he gave me were good and the customizations he has listed seem good on most everything (not all).

All in all, I would post there and see what specs he comes up with. I understand your hesitation in going with a new builder. But so for I've heard great things from my friend, but that's it. I hope this helps.

I asked for a quote on a system there,Max,the owner, responded promptly and was very helpfull. The price he quoted was very good, even lower than AvaDirect, who have very reasonable prices themselves. There isn't a large number of customer ratings for them yet,but those I've read have been very positive.Their warranty is somewhat unique,3 years on the system, but if an individual part has a longer warranty, they handle the RMA for you.Right now, they're on my short list of builders I'm considering for a new system.

Glad you got a good quote/response. I hope it works out for you if you decide to go with them. I went ahead and asked for another quote and am even more pleased at this quote opposed to my first one just a bit ago.

For anyone interested,Tom's Hardware has done a second review of a MaxForce system. MaxForce Reviewed: 3-Way SLI and 4 GHz+ : SCS Is Dead. Long live MaxForce. - Tom's Hardware

More and more, they seem like a legitimate alternative to the DELL and HP overpriced and undersupported "cookie cutter" systems some people settle for.

Just to provide a quick update, after a lot of searching I decided to go with Maxforce, and got my new system a few days ago.I'll post a complete review in the ratings section once I put this baby through it's gaming paces, but I can say it's everything I hoped for, incredibly fast, well built, and has performed flawlessly so far.Max was very helpful and attentive in helping me put together the exact system I wanted, with a selection of parts and price no other builder could beat.

A+

I mean to post this months back, but always slipped my mind.

As I posted previously, I had a good friend who bought a system from MaxForce. He had such good luck with it, that he had one built for his parents. He always spoke highly of Max's work and the customer service provided.

As a result of this, I had been interested in doing the same for myself. I flip-flopped on the issue many times. I priced factory systems, but was always disappointed with a variety of factory purchase issues in the past. The main thing that prevented me from making the plunge was the security net of a good warranty. Later, I read that Maxforce had extended his warranty.

My father got in the market for a new computer and I mentioned it to him. After much research and back and forth with Max about suggestions, he had a unit built. At first the system had some minor issues, and he couldn't figure out a few things. But after some time, these worked out. No major problems and today he is completely satisfied with the unit.

Finally last January, I made arrangements to have Max build a system for me. I had knocked around some specs in the past, and finally nailed down what I wanted. Max is very good about providing ideas, hardware suggestions, and pricing. My friend added all the costs up one day for his, and ended up spending less on wholesale parts than if he bought them himself. He didn't think Max made much off of the whole deal. But I digress.

It took a few weeks to get my system in. There was some issue with a couple of parts being out of stock. I didn't mind the wait as long as it was all done right. I wasn't disappointed. I ended up spending about $1350 on an Intel Core 2 Quad 9400 2.66Ghz, 8 gb of RAM, Windows Vista 64-bit, and a EVGA GTX 260 superclocked with 896mb of DDR 3 (plus other specs). I was able to buy a nice 22 inch LG monitor after all of this, due to coming in on my bugdet.

I haven't had any issues with this system so far. Its blazing fast and plays any and every game I've put on here...lag free. I opted not to get any extra software like Word, etc. But I've simply put on Openoffice to take care of that need, as well as Avast pro.

I would recommend this system to any interested in having a custom machine built. Max is always helpful over the phone or via email. He is very honest with you about costs and the time-frame. You can't get better customer service than Max.

Even if you aren't sold on the idea, check out his website and peruse his wares. Go to the forums and post a suggestion about what needs you have and what you are interested in. You may be pleasantly surprised at what he can come up with.
