Shipping Practices

I had purchased two items previously from online stores and had them sujpposedly shipped FedEx. It seems there is a new shipping method, Fed Ex picks the items up and then ships them USPS!!@ It takes almost three weeks to get an item that way. I recently placed andther order with Circuit City and was assured it was going FEDEX. In checking on the tracking number, I found they also hand over the shipping to FEDEX to have it go USPS. The item was ordered on the 7th, shipped on the 9th but won't arrive until July 28 THis is ridiculous. Have all online retailers gone to this method?

This is the result of a partnership between Fedex and USPS, and has absolutely nothing to do with the merchants.
