Absolutely do not deal with this company. They list the low prices, accept your order and then call a few days later to "sell" you the battery, the memory card and the cable that come with the canon camera. All of the things that are included with the camera. They advertised free shipping and then charged $20.00 for insurance. When I tried to cancel they said there would be a cancellation charge.
Tried for a week to get the order cancelled - was told it would be and that my credit card was not charged, but it was. The camera arrived anyway, seems to be okay, but I ended up paying a lot more than the advertised price - probably $100 +. Learn from our mistakes, don't deal with this group.

Stay away from ShopDigitalDirect
How I wish I came here first.
These guys really ripped me off and I feel like a real idiot.
First I find they offer the camera for much less than everyone else. But after I ordered it, I get a call asking about the battery and charger. I'm given two prices. One is for the regular batter and charger (both outrageously priced), and another price for a high-capacity battery and charger (higher priced, but you'd go that route for the price/hour rating, that later I found out was false).
I ended up not buying the camera I wanted but a less expensive one in order to afford the battery/charger combination.
When I received it, the battery and charger was nothing more than your standard battery and charger. I was duped! So I ended with paying a lot more for my camera, battery and charger and could have bought the camera I wanted instead!
SCUM OF THE EARTH THEY ARE!!!!

If anyone has any ideas of how to go after a company like this, I would appreciate the info. I tried the better business bureau, but without an address, they do not seem able to pursue this. Any ideas? It is a shame that they keep getting away with their deceptive practices.

regarding the rapidly expanding arena of cyber crime. The IC3 gives the victims
of cyber crime a convenient and easy-to-use reporting mechanism that alerts authorities
of suspected criminal or civil violations. For law enforcement and regulatory agencies
at the federal, state, local and international level, IC3 provides a central referral
mechanism for complaints involving Internet related crimes.

You could also try you local police or State AG.
The WhoIs info shows a private registration. EDIT:
The mailing address for this company has been located.
1965 McDonald Ave
Brooklyn, NY 11223
You can skip the IC3.gov and therefore file a compaint straight with the State of New York AG's Office

Hey, thanks for the info - I went to the IC3 site and entered a complaint. Hopefully others will do as well and we'll spark some interest.

Glad to hear that - hopefully some of the other people who were ripped off by these guys will go to the site as well. It's an easy process and maybe if they get a group of complaints, they will look into it. At the very least it feels better to try and do something other than to feel stupid like I did after falling for their "low price"

I got tired of them ripping people off, so here's what I did!
What I wrote to the Internet Crime Center at https://complaint.ic3.gov/default.a
On Aug 21 I found an ad at: ShopDigitalDirect.com stating that I could purchase the camera for $339.00 with free shipping using the United States Postal Service with an approximate delivery time of 6 to 8 days. I ordered the camera using my Bank Debit Card. I received the following receipt.

On Aug. 23 I received a phone call from a man who said his name was Ken, representing Shop Digital Direct. He stated that the camera I ordered was a "Grey Market" camera, and that if I wanted the American version I would have to pay another $149.00. I told him I would wait and he stated that he would just cancel the order. I told him that I didn't want to cancel the order. And he said, "Fine! Expect it in six to eight weeks"!
I am not the only victim of this fraud. Below are links to others who have fallen victim to these people and even a link for the NY BBB who lists other names these people are using. And other phone numbers as well.
Thank you.
Jim

glad to see you sent all the details Jim. Your experience sounds just like mine, except that I received the phone call to say that there would be an extra charge for the battery, the memory card and the cable, as well as a 20.00 charge for insurance for shipping.
Did you forward those other sites with registered complaints to IC3?

Oh no!
The typical suspects.... No contact information...Never, never order from any website that has no or little contact information, it is a red flag with alarms... |
