Your mistake
Answers:
1) There is no way New Egg could have charged your credit card if you entered the digits wrong. That doesn't make any sense.
2) You used a DEBIT card. They work differently than credit cards. What I am guessing happened is you entered the CORRECT credit card number and submitted your order, noticed you made a mistake on the ORDER and then resubmitted another order and tried to cancel your first order.
When you submit a DEBIT card, the first step is for the merchant to authorize the card (to see if you have sufficient funds, if available, THOSE FUNDS ARE AUTHORIZED AND SET ASIDE FOR 3-4 DAYS) then when the order is actually shipped the funds are removed from your account (charges go through).
You probably canceled your initial order, but since you used a DEBIT card the funds had already been authorized (set aside) and they are not available to you again for 3-4 days. This is a limitation of a DEBIT card, not a New Egg problem.
If you had used a standard credit card (NON-DEBIT) you would not have had this problem.

Jhaney52,
It is decent of you to state up front that an error on your part contributed to this unpleasant experience.
I have been a customer of Newegg for years, and they have always bent over backwards to rectify any errors. They are very aggressive about resolving issues in the customer's favor, and it sounds like you came out OK in the end.
I hope you give Newegg another chance, because they are The Best reseller I have ever dealt with.

| Jhaney52, you need to think about your "titles" before you post a thread...
Just because you or for that matter anyone else has a single problem or issue, does not indicate that a vendor is going "downhill."

I love NEWEGG!
I have spent thousands of dollars at NEWEGG, build many systems and I will continue to forever do business with them.
1 - They always have what I can't get at Circuit City or Comp USA
2 - Never had any issue returning anything
3 - RMA's were always honored
4 - Its just a dam shame the retail stores can't be as good as Newegg.
5 - Best prices and the best equipment.
6 - Always a quick turnaround
Newegg is what everyone else needs to be like - FOREVER NEWEGG!!!

Newegg is what everyone else needs to be like - FOREVER NEWEGG!!! | All excellent points, indeed..To denounce a vendor requires more than a single bad experience, in light of the fact, that Egger has such a storied reputation..
More important, are repeat buyers, such as you and I and their opinions.
Yes, Egger will make mistakes today and in the future, just like all human beings, nevertheless, they have achieve the coveted 99.999 ratings.
For you critics, remember that this company ships over seven million items per year!!
You can rightly blame them for their errors, but your efforts to sally their reputation is wrong and reprehensible..

Me too---newegg has gone downhill--I ordered the new striker 2 formula Motherboard from ASUS --the first came DOA they RMA'ed it and the second one came DOA and I wrote a bad review of it, it has a 47% satisfied rating on newegg--that means 53% arent happy with the board. they offered to refund the 3rd RMA instead of replace--I told the customer serivce guy (name of Adah, where is he from???) that that would be cool . They put the condition that I order the equivalent in goods and they would refund the 299.99 the board costs. I told this clown Adzh that the account that I ordered from is closed could they refund to my new acct registered with them, I went ahead and ordered and sure enough they put the refund in the wrong acct and I never got it---new board cost me 669.00--not worth it--sad to see a company like this lose their grip--but then lots of big name companies are now a days..Really sad thing is they are still selling this board and still getting lots of bad reviews---------------

I have to agree in that Newegg has gone downhill. The more I make inquiries as to what happened with my parcel delivery the more something 'smells rotten in Denmark'. First, I ordered a PC game. When I spoke with the rep on the phone, she told me it was in stock and it would be shipped via their EggSaver service and would arrive to me in 3-5 days as it was coming from NJ and going to PA. Great... I placed the online order and it told me 3-7 days. I immediately called back the sales rep as she gave me her extension and asked what was going on. She told me that the online system always says 3-7 days for EggSaver but she was confident in saying 3-5 days as it was going NJ to PA. Fine...I kept track of the parcel routing. Things started out fine as it left Rutherford, NJ but got strange is it went out of its way to Hebron, KY. Kentucky!?!? Why the heck would you send it all the way to KY to get to PA. After the 5 days had passed and no package was at my doorstep, for this is what the confident sales rep had told me, I call NewEgg and the BS starts - "you should go to the tracking website with the number we provided in your invoice," "perhaps the delivery had problems, such as bad weather or broken down vehicles," and it went on and on. So, she told me to give it another 2 days and if nothing happened to call back. In the interim, I called DHL, who was the shipper for this 10 oz game. To my chagrin, DHL has handed off to the USPS! What?!?!? I called DHL and was shocked that the rep there couldn't explain it either. I called Newegg back because the 2 extra days had passed, which now puts it at 7 days. She didn't know what to say except that it should've been there by now. Again, she keeps pushing me off to the shipper. At this point I requested to speak to her supervisor. Again, the supervisor didn't know what to say. I got a lot of apologies but that was about it. So, it turns out that DHL handed it off to the USPS in Hebron, KY. I called the USPS. At this point it got shipped to a suburb outside of Pittsburgh, PA. I called the USPS and they informed me that he had up to 3 more days to delivery this package. WHAT?!?!? That is now a total of 10 days!!! Again, I called NewEgg and was fuming! All I got was apologies. How pathetic!! Now, to add even more suspicion to this order, when I get it the shipping label is plain jane but says DHL at the top in big letter, it has a USPS delivery confirmation barcode and...AND...the label is a UPS label as it has the small UPS logo in the bottom!!! To top it all off, NewEgg outsourced this order to another company called ABS Computer Technologies in California. It didn't even come from NewEgg!!! Bye bye, NewEgg...never again!
