Kinoki detox foot pads

FYI for anyone who has seen these tv commercials:
http://abcnews.go.com/Health/Stossel...4636224&page=1

Quote:
"I feel like it's a scam," said Sweeney. "It's just the moisture in your feet that are darkening the pad."

Bingo. There's no evidence that it's toxins. When I dropped distilled water on the pad, it turns dark in seconds.

I wish TV and radio stations would be more responsible about running these kinds of ads. Alan Handleman, a North Carolina radio host, says that when Kinoki proposed advertising on his program, he asked for samples of the pads. He eventually decided the company seemed "sleazy" and he turned the money down. But that's unusual, I fear. Many in the media just take the money.

Interesting... I've seen those commercials and wondered about their claims and effectiveness. More interesting is the placebo effect - how what you believe is expressed and realized by the body. Mind control is valid and powerful stuff.

The minute I saw those ads,I thought of those "ionized" bracelets they use to try and pass off as miracle cures for arthritis. They're nothing more than modern day snake oil salesmen.

My family use to use this (from an over sea company)way back, it's very popular among the chinese culture. It mostly consists of herbs and mints for that "tingly, you think it's working (but it's just a scam) effect". Because of the herbs interacting with the oxygen it eventually turns brown (think of an cut apple) and since it's an adhesive it basically collects dirty dead skin cells, and eventually this build up of sweat and dead skin cells under the adhesive pad would look like TOXINS, dum dum dum!

I heard from my parents that the one's being advertised under the kinoki brand is a not even "half as good" as the one from back then. And from What I personally know from back then, it was cheap as dirt from another chinese manufacturer.

Personally I think it's a total scam, especially if you pay attention to the extremely small fine print when the commercial is on tv "results are not typical"...
