Never ever buy from Thenerds.net

I just filed to the BBB complaint about this company. Please never ever order anything from this company. It's a fraudulent company, rude customer service, discriminating its customers.

Welcome to RR.

The current BBB report gives this company a "BB" or above average rating and shows only 5 complaints in the last 3 years. All complaints were resolved.
Quote:
BB A high rating. The company would generally have demonstrated good business-consumer relations, and we would expect any consumer complaints not to be of a serious nature and to be satisfactorily handled by the company.
The review page here at RR gives them a 8.05/10, six month rating. 6.43/10 lifetime rating with 232 reviews since 6NOV2000.

PriceGrabber.com gives them a lifetime rating of 4.46/5 with 6879 reviews since 6OCT2000.

BizRate.com gives them a 83% positive over the last three months. With over 10,000 reviews since 2000.

Epinions.com gives them 2.5/5 rating with 61 reviews since 15DEC2002.

Looking at those numbers I'd have to agree with the BBB report.

What is the problem that lead you to state this company is fraudulent?
They've been in business for over 8 years and have over 17,000 reviews a majority of which are positive. I'd say ~86% are positive.

thenerds.net deceptive business practices

I too, filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau against thenerds.net.

You asked for specifics on another thread, here are the specifics of my interaction with thenerds.net over the past few days. I agree that they are guilty of misleading advertising and deceptive business practices, and that they are downright nasty and demeaning to speak with over the phone. I would caution everyone to avoid them regardless of how good an offer looks, because it will probably be false, and it will cost you more than you bargained for.

On thenerds.net website on December 10, 2008, they advertized a product, MN1500BKD DURACELL BATTERY,COPPERTOP,AA,144 for $21.99 plus $9.99 shipping and handling. A box was delivered the next day, 12/11 containing a box of 24 of these batteries, not 144. Please note that these batteries are sold in 144-packs. I called thenerds.net as soon as they opened and spoke with the Customer Service Supervisor (Eric) and later called again and spoke with the person to whom he reports (Robbie). They said that they would refund the purchase price if I paid the shipping cost back to them. Their stance is that although the description of the product said BATTERY,COPPERTOP,AAA,144, it never said 144 quantity. Yesterday 12/11/2008, thenerds.net changed the website product description from showing 144 to show 24, not 24 quantity, and today, 12/12 they removed the product from their website altogether. I can walk into a Target store and purchase a 24 pack of the extended life of this brand’s batteries for ½ the price that thenerds.net charged for what they shipped, but thenerds.net feels justified in their deceptive business practice. I would like the product that was advertised for the price it was advertised. Since that will most likely not happen, I do not want to pay shipping charges on a product that was the result of a deceptive business practice and that I do not want for an exorbitant price.

I sorry, Master Nomaxim, however, I consider those rating services as not reliable.

Epinions, Pricegrabbers and Bizrates are all suspect and I for one will never use them...

I also consider The Nerds problematical especial when one examines their reviews on RR...

Starting with page one (12.03.08) there were four complains..Moreover, reviewing the top eight, all recorded the highest rating and with six mentioning shipping in their reviews..

Looked at page two and three, and only 3 out of the next 8 very satisfied reviews talked up shipping.

Frankly, most consumer receive orders within a week and hence shipping is not a critical issue for most customers.

FBT,
Is there some reason you are quoting 10 month old stats?

Don't you think that you should check and see what the current ratings are?

Of note is the fact that ePinions is the only one out of the four that gives TheNerds.net a bad rating.

Since my original post, the one you are quoting, was posted on 5FEB2008.

I looked at their reviews starting with page one of nineteen, BTW, I was using the link you provided in your post.

The last review I see is December the third, 2008..

I will say, that their current six month rating is quite acceptable, however, that can not be said for their lifetime rating.

Sorry FBT,

I fail to see your point here.

The current AVG. rating at RR is, at present 8.02/10.

TheNerds.net, at present holds a 6.96/10, 6-month, and a 6.36/10 lifetime.

Both are ~1 to 1.5 below the avg. of 8.02/10 at present.

I may have been over extrapolating regarding their reviews, nevertheless, I find their ratings too low to do business with them..

Sorry for any confusion on my part, Nomaxim...
