That's odd. There appear to be two BBB reports for this company.

| Since the second report is from the LA BBB and the business is located in Miami. I'd have to agree that the SE Florida report is the more current one.
Actually there are five different reports listed with a url search at search.bbb.org/Results.aspx?url=thenerds.net. It appears that the BBB has a address in CA. on record.
The WhoIs info gives the following address, Quote:

| Good catch LarryDan43, I've been looking at the LABBB info.

thenerds.net 2680 NE 188th St
While there are several reports at the BBB for thenerds, the two reports you cite for the different names are both at the same address from which thenerds.net operates. This is the company which I filed my BBB complaint last week about fraudulent advertising and deceptive business practices.
The attitude of the Customer Service Supervisor and his boss, both of whom I spoke to, told me that I must have an awful lot of time on my hands if I'm going to file a complaint, or go online and warn other people. They believe that most people will just fold, and they make their money by ripping those people off. They really were downright nasty.

Bad
I just had a very bad experience with thenerds.net I would recommend no matter what no one buy from them. Awful, costumer service pretty much doesn't exist and its very hard to get your money back, let alone get the item you ordered.

As for the BBB ratings, it is now B+ (using the Larry's link). They also have 76 complaints now in the last 36 months.
I also found some of their replies to reviews here at RR to be a little interesting...
For example... - Customer receives a used instead of a new item. TheNerds refunds the shipping. I think they should have offered to send a "new" item.
- Customer receives a product DOA. Upon returning it they are charged a 30% restocking fee. TheNerds in this case decided to waive the fee. That's a huge fee for a DOA product.
That's not to say that some of their replies weren't good. They seemed to also reply to some of the bad reviews with what I thought were reasonable adjustments. I just find that the amount of people writing about not being able to communicate with TheNerds to be on the high side.
Looking at their ratings and review, I would not order from them.

I had a bad experience with them about six years ago myself. I ordered a set of jewel cases from them, a pack of 20 Memorex cases to be exact, and what I received were Memorex jewel cases for mini-CDs. That was not what was described online nor is it what I wanted/needed. I contacted their customer service people about the error and they said only, "Well, that's what you get for what you ordered." I asked to send it back so as to get the right product and they hung up on me. Since then, I have done nothing with them nor shall I do anything with them again. I have too many good suppliers at this point that, until I saw this thread, they had not entered my thoughts for years.
If some BBB is giving them a "B" rating, then I wonder who they are paying off to make that happen. I've seen too many negative reviews online and spoken with all too many dissatisfied customers to believe the "B" is anywhere near accurate.
Also, as for being in business for eight years, that doesn't mean a company is good. It means only that they have enough marketing in place to keep drawing in customers to replace the ones they keep losing due to bad customer service.

Some of the comments here make me a bit concerned, as I placed my order 4 business days ago w/ expedited handling and 3-5 business days shipping...the order was processed within 2 hours of the order placement and I was told on Friday that it had shipped previously. Now, this may be the case, and I hope it is, but I have not as of yet received any tracking information. I realize the laptop I ordered is not a fancy one, but as a student, it's what I can afford, and so not knowing where it is is troubling to me.
Now, I've read some of the reviews here and I have to concur what was being said about the BBB and various ratings. I am sure the company is generally fine, but I seem have not received the best service.
HOWEVER! I work in customer service. I know firsthand how order problems can be blown out of proportion and how customers don't always explain their situations correctly and therefore receive misinformation. Plus, there are humans behind these computer screens and humans are well, prone to mistakes. Besides, so many people who work in this capacity (and I am a fortunate exception) are not paid or trained well, especially in the INSANE holiday times. Now, you can blame the company, and to a large extent, they should bear the brunt of the blame for how competent and fairly paid their employees, but PLEASE! Most of us are decent and fair (aside from some very crabby folks) but may not always know the answers to all questions especially when things get particularly hectic. And besides, it is very easy to underesetimate how much crap we get from customers ourselves, rude remarks, insults..but it's always "service with a smile," even when some unhinged person or jerk decides to take out their problems on you. So yeah, unless the people are genuinely bitchy or dismissive, just relax. They probably don't even have health insurance.
Which isn't to say some of you haven't had legitimately crappy experiences. I'm sure there have been serious mistakes made by the company. And god, I hope I get my order soon....
