Neusefisher is infamous around these parts
We will find out if Overstock is truly reputable or not....

I appreciate any comments or advice and will continue to post updates on my adventures with Overstock.com and X2gen here. Sometimes you get what you pay for. I went with a cheap HDTV and could be about to get a raw deal. Here's the scoop so far.

11/15/07 7:47 AM

So far so good. I was obviously concerned after i read the reviews of Overstock.com on this sight. Problem was I had already ordered an 37" LCD tv and was at the mercy of the store. It has been 5 business days since my purchase and to my surprise I did recieve a shipping notice today with tracking number. The item was shipped on Tuesday! So now as long as I get my TV in good condition I will keep a post a positive rating and recommendation for the store. They used UPS to send it to me.

Update 11/20/07

I recieved the TV via UPS yesterday and everything arrived as expected. I must say I am impressed with the level of service I recieved and will continue to use Overstock.com in the future. Most of the complaints I have read had to do with returns and luckily I didn't have to worry with that.

Update 12/13/07

The TV I bought didn't turn on this morning. I though no problem, it has a one year warranty. When I got to work this morning. I attempted to call the manufacturer X2Gen. I have been unsuccessful so far and have since read two instances that stated they may have gone out of business the week after I bought the TV! Now we are really going to find out how good Overstock.com is. They have already agreed to send me a shipping label to return the product. It will be sent to their warranty dept for repair or refund they tell me. They are supposed to call within two business days. I have recoreded all conversations I have had with them up to this point in case it comes down to legal action. Stay tuned for updates.

Update: I found this out this morning about the manufacturer of the TV:

Computer World Solution, Inc. manufactures consumer electronics. Its products include LCD monitors and televisions, and digital audio/video devices, including MP3/MP4, DVD players, and portable DVD players. The company has operations in North America, South America, Europe, Australia, and Africa. The company was founded in 2001 and is based in Wheeling, Illinois. On November 9, 2007, an involuntary petition for reorganization under Chapter 11 was filed against Computer World Solution, Inc in the US Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Illinois, Chicago. On November 28, 2007, the involuntary petition was approved by the Court.

Why would they try to sue others and do you think Overstock will either 1. fix the tv 2. refund my money 3. give me a store credit or 4. nothing? I have been a long time lurker and this is my first post. Thanks for your reply nomaxim

We have ordered from there probably 5+ times and never had a problem. I can't say that I have had a problem yet with them, but now am begining to worry since the product manufacturer has gone out of business. Lady on the phone said i would get a refund or repair and I have it on tape, but I am still very cautious. I don't know if Overstock knows they are out of business yet or not. I am waiting for a warranty call in the next 1-2 days.

Since its been less then 30 days since your purchase Overstock.com should cover it at this time.

Have you checked their warranty information in regards to this matter?

They should cover any problems that fall within their, OverStock.com's, warranty. After that, well keep in mind that OverStock.com is not at fault if the manufacturer goes out of business or bankrupt. Like you said, they may not have known about it either.

This company has a RRating of a little over 5...I am sorry, but as such, I would not conduct business with them....I am not interested in rolling dices with any vendor...

i understand frostbitetwice. It is hard to really know because even nationwide retailers such as walmart, target, circuitcity, best buy etc have bad ratings on here. I have delt with all of them as well and have had nothing but the best service. I will keep everyone updated on what happens.

Update:

I got to thinking last night and realized I was still 2 days away from the 30 day waiting period. I called Overstock last night and said in stead of a replacement or warranty work, that I just wanted to return the now defective merchandise. They said ok and have since sent me a RA number and a shipping label to use from UPS. All shipping charges should be covered. Keeping fingers crossed.

Thats always an if. Well, except for Crutchfield, they do pay return shipping.

Anyway, be sure to leave a review when this is all done.
