WARNING AVOID PRESSUREWASHERS DIRECT.

Placed my order for a Karcher 1850 PSI Electric Pressure Washer for $275 with delivery promised in 4-7 days. After five days I received no email confirming shipment, so I checked their site’s web page and found this notice Hurry, only 5 left in stock. Order Soon! Ten days after I placed my order I sent an email asking for a status update. Their response: I just received word from the Manufacturer that the Karcher 1850 PSI Electric Pressure Washer, Model K5.93M you ordered on 10/8/07 is currently on backorder and not expected to be available until January 2008.
What type of company advertises merchandise it doesn’t have, then posts a tease to Hurry, only 5 left in stock. I will never order again from them because they sell items that they do not actually have in stock and that is not a practice that I can tolerate as a buyer.

Peter Cornstalk is on a distinguished road
Some people drop ship and do not know stock status from day to day, only when they put in a drop ship order they find out it is out of stock.

If you only sell a few items from the same source, it is easy to keep up on inventory though, but you still have to have the people in place to retrieve this information on a periodic basis and update the website.

If you have hundreds of items from dozens of different sources it is not realistic to know what is and what is not in stock on an accurate basis. Also realize that many sources may not have a way to electronically transmit stock status to their resellers on a live or timely basis and would require someone to print and fax inventory lists. That is something that they probably would not like doing on a regular basis.

Whether the company you are complaining about has these types of challenges, I do not know. 10 days without any type of contact is too long. Of course if you feel you do not want to purchase from anyone, that is your prerogative.
