shopping for ram is..

I learned a lot here, however the topic of ram is tough to grasp. I want to add ram but I learned it must be identacile to the ram I aready have. My dell inspiron 531s says 1 gb dual channel ddr2 sdram at 667mhz-2DIMMs. Wow that is a lot to digest. I recall seeing 2 slots taken up the last time I open up the CPU.
Then I read that the name brand should be the same. Can that be true?

They don't have to be the same name brand. You can go to manufacturer's websites, like Corsair or Crucial, and use memory selectors there to find out what you need, you just list the make and model of your system, and it will tell you which ram you need, and often give you a list of vendors who carry it.
