Techondigital bait and switch

I had similar experience with the call this number to confirm your online order. After I refused to buy overpriced batteries and memory card, the camera suddenly became the Japanese model or I would have to pay $50 more. I (hopefully) canceled the order.

Techon Digital-Scammers

Hello. I joined this forum just so I could post my experience with Techon Digital for other people to read.

I am looking for a new digital camera and found the one I want at a great price on the techon digital website. I was a little leary of them, but the price was so good....

I placed my order online and received a confirmation e-mail requiring me to call and confirm my order within 24 hours. I thought this was very strange. Why should I have to call them for anything? The next day I called, a recording came on telling me to press 1 to confirm an internet order so I did.

This guy comes on the phone in a very unprofessional way. Within 1 minute I am abruptly put on hold 3 times! I had already verified my address with the guy and he's not saying anything to me just putting me on hold so after the third time I hung up.

When I get home that night there's a message on my maching to call this guy James back at his extension number. The next day I call him back and tell him I received a message to call. I am put on hold again 2 more times within the first 30 seconds of the call!! After the second time he comes back on the line and asks if he can call me back in 10 minutes. I said no. He asked if I could hold for 2 minutes because his system is down. I said no. He says well then I'm cancelling your order. I asked him, is that why I had to call you back today because you have to cancel my order? He says No, you have 2 options; you can either hold for 2 minutes or I'm cancelling your order!

I couldn't believe it! I told him to cancel my order then!

So far I have not received any charges on my card from this company.

I should have known better and done some research about the company before I gave them my card number!

Definitely DO NOT try to buy anything from these people. It seems all of the bad reviews I read after the fact are 100% correct!

Techondigital.com Experience

This company is using Only One Website (techondigital.com)
but are using many Different Company Names

BEWARE - This is a BAIT AND SWITCH Company

After making your purchase you will get a email from techondigital.com asking you to call xxx-xxx-xxxx which are all again different numbers stating: Please call (john doe) from our order confirmation department at ext: xxx to confirm your order.

Once you do that then the FUN BEGINS - the sells person (john doe) will tell you that the item you just purchased for $$$ was (GREY MARKET PRODUCT) - which means in the encyclopedia grey market is the trade of something legal through unofficial, unauthorized, unintended distribution channels. In contrast, black market refers to goods and services that are illegal in themselves and/or distributed through illegal channels. The two main types of grey market are imported manufactured goods that would be normally unavailable or more expensive in a certain country and unissued securities that aren't yet traded in official markets.)

Then he ask you if you would like the American Version of this product - which will cost you an extra $$$. Don't even try talking about it to the sells person - he DOES NOT CARE - he will then asks you Do You Want It or Not??? (Of course you want it - if you did not want it you wouldn't have bought it.)
BAM your price $$$ just went up... so much for the savings you just thought you got from buying from these guys - They just got you... BAIT and SWITCH

DO YOURSELF A FAVOR and GO and Buy from Someone Else - Dont be a FOOL like I Was... I have learned from my mistake this time...

Techondigital scam

Scammers. Called to try to upsell me by $120.00 and when I refused emailed to say that the item was not in stock and cancelled the order.

Add my name to the list of people scammed by this outfit. $305 plus tax/free shipping for a Garmin Nuvi 750 at Techon Digital - I should have known it was too good to be true. My first clue that this was a scam came after I placed my order online and got an email asking me to call and confirm my order. When I called, I spoke to the same obnoxious jerk described in other posts trying to upsell me on ridiculously overpriced accessories. When I started asking questions like why they were charging so much for a memory card ($120 for something I can get for $25) the sales rep became abusive. I asked him to cancel my order and he hung up on me. I called back and spoke to someone else, who canceled my order and sent an email confirmation of the cancelation. Then I called my credit card company and canceled my credit card. Today I went back to Everyprice.com to find the listing, so I can complain to the site about false user ratings - and surprise, surprise, Techondigital.com is no longer listed.

I learned an important lesson: don't trust "independent" ratings on Everyprice.com or other shopping comparison sites. Go to CNET and other reputatable sites for seller reviews. And if it looks too good to be true, IT IS!

If it sounds too good to be true...

Techondigital is definitely a scam bait and switch operation. Generally, I research sites before I buy. But I was taken in by the rating site that listed Techondigital. I ordered a Panasonic at a great price (too good to be true) and got an email requiring me to call to confirm my order. I did and the guy on the phone rudely tried to sell me an overpriced battery after telling me that the one in the camera was only good for 20 minutes. I kept saying no and he rudely hung up on me. Then I found this site and realized I'd been had. I called their customer service and there was a very polite guy who assured me the camera would go out in a few days. About 3 hours later I received an email telling me the camera was out of stock for 6-8 weeks and they'd email me if they came in. They were cancelling my order and told me not to try to re-order the camera.

What a racket! Soooo, if it sounds to good to be true, it's probably a scam!

hahah... I feel like such a fool!
I usually do better research to keep myself away from these things. So yeah, for me, it was the new Nikon S600 for $199... yeah... ssuuurre.

Same slimy tactics, etc. I passed on the extortionate accessories, followed by the same hang-up.

My question: is it safe enough to cancel the order or should I cancel the CC?

I called my credit card company to cancel and they said they couldn't do anything until the charge came through. So far, no charge to my cc. I learned a valuable lesson and I ended up ordering my camera from Amazon.com.

BEWARE NANCO ELECTRONICS--A SCAM

Do not buy from Nancoelectronics.com Everything about it is fake, the addresses, phone numbers, photograph of employees. This is a total scam site. My brother paid through Western Union for a laptop. The money was picked up in Rome. Spread the word.

Fool me once...

Hey gang!
I joined up here just so I can rant about techondigital!

I have had the same horrid experience as everyone else here. "Purchaced" a GPS at a rediculous price (Garmin Nuvi 760 @ $349!!). Got the same weird phone call from a man who was very hard to understand. He was very rude and demeaning and insisted that I had purchaced the "overseas model" (which if you know your GPS, they are all made in Tam Tam China, and farmed out to other countries, there is NO SUCH THING), and told me I had to purchace a media card for it to work (So apparently the "overseas model" must not have a hard drive that stores the maps????). After pressuring me again and again, and saying things like "you tell me yes, or no, since you are a minister I wil give you good deal because I know you are going to refer your friends to me," he tried for several minutes to sell me a $40 media card first for $160, then $100, then the "deal that he would not offer to anybody that was not a minister," $75! After he ascertained that I was uninterested in the overpriced media card, he told me that I needed to purchace a warantee since the "overseas model" had none. I insisted that Garmin covered all of their GPS's for one year (which is the truth), and he then started SCREAMING at me over the phone telling me that "You are not listening to what I am saying!! I am selling you the extended warrantee, listen to what I am saying and stop skeaking!!" Wow, I don't know about you, but if someone ever said that to me at a store front...well, anyway

It was at this point that I figured I had better call and cancel my order. I called and talked to someone with a thick accent as well, and asked them if I could cancel my order. He told me "absoulutely, I will do that right now...will there be anything else?" Here's the problem...he hadnt even gotten my name or order number yet!!!!! After correcting him on this, he promised an email which was of course never sent. It was only then did I start to research the company to find this site and others.

Here is my biggest question for you all- Has anyone had them charge their CC and not recieved what they ordered/can anyone point to any type of identity theft that has occured in connection tho this company? Assuming my experience will be like the rest of yours, it is my hope that they will simply cancel the order and I will only have to deal with the shame of feeling like an idiot for believing their "credentials" without researching them first. Do I have anything else to worry about? I have taken your advice and gotten on the digital nerds site and deleted all of the info I could, but I am sure that they have hard copies as well. If they do charge me for the ficticious item or I suddenly find my savings depleated in the next few months, I would also be very interested in taking legal action against them if anyone else is interested. I fight to win, and will stop at nothing to take them down legally if this be the case.

Anyway, I hope that this article will persuade anyone who is thinking about buying from techondigital.com not to do it! You won't save any money, you WILL loose whatever you pay to them!!
