Oh yeah.... and I suspect all those glowing reviews were written by them. They all had the same writing style and they all used ordinary names, not the usual 'handles' people use in chat rooms and stuff like that.
Are you referring to TheDigitalNerds / techondigital.com / DigitalSuperdeals / Wawa Digital / Stargate Photo / Starlight? If so, where are "all those glowing reviews"? The store has a lifetime rating of .72 and a six-month rating of .72, so I'm not seeing a lot of glowing reviews...

Actually, I was referring to the reviews I read on "Everyprice.com"

That seems to be a nest for all of these cheating sites. They had hundreds, maybe thousands, of reviews..... all wonderful. You can tell they're fake, though.

And it confirms that we (ResellerRatings.com) are unrelentingly diligent about combatting fraudulent ratings. If you or anyone notices suspicious reviews on any merchant here, let me know (email me).

Welcome to the site, gccc44.

Welcome to the site, gccc44.
Thanks. I'm glad there are places like this. I've bought tons of stuff over the internet but this is the first time I've been "caught". I usually consider myself smarter than that..... but, I'll be more careful from now on.

Just to address what you mentioned about the fraudulent ratings, I was skeptical after a while when I noticed that most, if not all, of the reviews were basically the same length and 'tone' and writing style. Also, I noticed that all the names of the people who left comments were typical people's names. (like joe, john, kelly, brad, susan, etc.) Most of the time when you go to chat rooms or forums, you see people have handles like "scuba gal" or "cyber king" or maybe "kate55". All of those 'reviewers' had standard names attached to their posts. That made me sort of wonder....

I also think that looking at the website page and seeing if they have any BBB or Paypal logos or other 'proof' of reliability. I know you can fake all that stuff, but this site had none of that and other sites I checked where I did business with all had stuff like that.

Just some ideas of things to look for that may raise a "red flag".

Thanks to all the "good" people who are helping to look out for each other.

they sell item they don't have

I bought nuvi 760 just few minutes back. Called them to confirm my order. Surprisingly after few minutes someone picked the phone. The moment I told him that I want to confirm the order I placed, he hung up!
I called second time. This time again I told him with, little frustration, that I called just to confirm the order I placed. He muttered something and hung up again. He said, ( he knew without me telling what I was talking about) that the item is on backorder for six weeks!!
Most of the items they sell they don't have.
I just called to cancel and guess what... they had already cancelled my order. I have not recieved any email regarding cancellation so far!
Now the person on the other side doesn't even listen to me. The moment I start speaking he hangs up. What the hell is going on!!
I wonder if this is some trick to get personal information (name, address, credit card info etc.)

Almost scamed

I had found a Canon digital camcorder for like 275$ from this site. I told the wife to order it once our income tax check came in. I had a freind call me a day later about this site and she googled it. She opened my eyes to the bad reviews which led me to this site and I am thankful hat phone call happened.
I had the wife cancel the order and bought a Sony handycam from Wal-mart instead. I spend just less that 100$ more, but I am happy with my purchase all the saem.
My lesson is, not only shall I research the product I would like to purchase, but also research the site I wish to purchase from.

All of these things were way over priced (hence their low price on the camera)!

I finally got past their high pressure sales and let them know I only wanted the camera. They said fine and they would get it out.

The next day I received an email that said "Due to the product you ordered being out of stock for 6-8 weeks from today's date. We regret to inform you that the order is canceled due to the product being on backorder. when or if we get the product again in stock soon will send you an email to place an order please do not resubmit your order again . sorry again and thanks for your understanding ."

Their web site said it was "available" so I called. This time I said I would take the 1G sd memory card for $179.00 (it was $120.00 when I confirmed the order) and they told me that both were in stock. When I told him about the email I received, he said it was only available as a package deal but that isn't what the web site said.

In short, this is a SCAM!!! They have things but will only sell them to you if you buy the OVER PRICED extras!

I had problems with techondigital and did a little surfing and found this comment in regards to his site.
I ordered a camera from this company yesterday with a 2 gig memory stick. James, the so called owner of the company called me back to verify order.
And told me the memory stick was the wrong one and tried to sell me a stick that costs twice as much. when i refused and told him to just send the camera is said he was going to cancel the entire order. I called him a thief. He replied back and said he was a thief and started laughing and hungup.

A BIG THANKYOU

First, yes I meant to yell in the title. It is a good yell.

Second, I want to say "Thank you" for everyone posting this information, and saving me the headache of dealing with them. I found another nationally known site that after shipping the camera I want is only a few dollars more, and I don't have to deal with this company.

Do Not Buy from Techon Digital!!!!

I just tried to buy an SD850 from this company. I had to call an 877 number to confirm my order. The guy that picked up the phone was quite rude and told me that becuase I didn't want to buy the extra battery for this camera that my current, and all future, order(s) would be cancelled. He tried to talk me into the battery and I let him talk but then just asked nicely to purchase the camera as is. He asked me why I let him keep talking if I was just going to say no. Then he told me that I shouldn't bother to place any other orders with him because they would all be cancelled. I asked to speak to the manager and he said that he was the owner of the company. (The owner of the company is answering the phone??? - must be a high profit company....not.)

Long story short - here's my piece for you, Techon Digital - you had an opportunity to sell me a product and chose not to do so. Don't worry about me placing any additional orders through you because your business sucks. Find a real job. Loser.

Advice to other potential customers - stay away, don't waste your time with this crap.
