This is not an uncommon business scam and a subtle (!) form of "bait and switch". In NYC we have these so-called "Sixth Ave. Electronics shops" [that have moved over to Fifth Ave] that cater to tourists staying in Hotels in the area.
A common practice is to draw you in with a low price --but then require that you buy an expensive accessary (often something to make it work !) to get the price.
I recently called a big box-store for a item on sale but was repeatedly questioned if I wanted anything else. When I said "no"
, the salesperson checked stocked and "discovered" it was "out". Quite suspicious.
Unfortunately, even reputable stores are resorting to practices to compete with disreputable stores drawing away customers. Regretfully, people using Internet search for "lowest price" has encouraged the development of this practice of "lowballing". My suggestion isto look at the Seller, not just the lowest price.

All of these things were way over priced (hence their low price on the camera)!
I finally got past their high pressure sales and let them know I only wanted the camera. They said fine and they would get it out.
The next day I received an email that said "Due to the product you ordered being out of stock for 6-8 weeks from today's date. We regret to inform you that the order is canceled due to the product being on backorder. when or if we get the product again in stock soon will send you an email to place an order please do not resubmit your order again . sorry again and thanks for your understanding ."
Their web site said it was "available" so I called. This time I said I would take the 1G sd memory card for $179.00 (it was $120.00 when I confirmed the order) and they told me that both were in stock. When I told him about the email I received, he said it was only available as a package deal but that isn't what the web site said.
In short, this is a SCAM!!! They have things but will only sell them to you if you buy the OVER PRICED extras!

This is probably an example of this practice of lowballing and bait and switch.
