techondigital help

Yes I too was drawn in by the whole scam.
Same thing- low price, "call to confirm", upselling with overpriced add-ons.

First the story, then the help...
After I wouldn't go for the extras, they said simply "goodbye" and hung up.
Two days later my card hadn't been charged so I called back.
This time got through rather quickly. The guy said 4-6 weeks for the camera.
I said that I needed it for Christmas and would like to cancel my order.
The guy said OK and said he would send a confirmation email right then.
The email did come about an hour later.

I stewed on this for about a day and did some investigating, finding that this was most likely a scam site, so I began to get worried about my credit card information. What I found was that these sites that seem to share tactics and merchandise "availability" ALSO seem to share the same billing company.

While I wasn't able to erase or change any billing info at the techondigital.com site, I WAS able to login to the thedigitalnerds.com site with the same email and password! That site ALLOWS you to update billing information! And guess what? When I went back and logged in to the techondigital.com site, I had no password with my email address, but all the changes were visible!

The only caveat is that your evening phone number and your email address is NOT editable... Oh well...

I will probably get another card number for that card anyway, but I did feel a little better about being able to change the card data.

Hope that info helps someone.

Steer clear of TECHONdigital

Ordered a camcorder and called the 877 number to verify the order. Some one starts to tell me about my needs for 'their' battery charger. I asked if the camcorder was new, still wrapped? Yes, he says. I say then it has a battery charger with it (according to Panasonic). He first says no and then I trap him, well yes it has a battery charger that requires you to charge the battery while on the camera!!! So how much for this $25.00 cigarette lighter charger? Their price, $149.95!!!!!
I get disconnected and call back to cancel the order after talking with Visa and my bank. I get through and tell this individual that I spoke with Visa and wish to cancel the order. He asks me why I am calling my Bank/Visa and then proceeds to tell me I cannot do this until they process the order!!!! Can you hear the loud click coming. I got notified by email that they have cancelled the order, but will watch my account. They sell under the going price of everyone else and then pressure/talk you up to more than the original price....
Be carefull!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks InternetScamsSuk

I got caught up in the too good to be true deal too... I placed my order and only afterwards found all the horrible reviews and I did some of my own research... none of the links work... there's no physical address... they don't have an email address even though they say to email them for faster response...

I ordered something through a reputable website... newegg.com and got an email confirming my order in like 15 mins... I smelled funny but I can't resist a bargain... I've completely learned my lesson...

to top it all off... when I try to log in to the techondigital website... I don't need a password... just type in your email and you're in... talk about shady security... I'm going to give them a call tomorrow to "confirm" my order... but I've already let my credit card company know... makes me want to buy everything retail from now on... to save the headache...

www.TechonDIGITAL.com SUCKS!!!

I had the same thing as another person posted happen with TechnoDigital. I purchased a camera online. They gave me a call about 30 minutes later to "confirm" my order. They tried to upsell me on overpriced memeory cards and batteries. Whent they realized I already had that covered, they told me that I would be getting a "grey market" product. there was absolutely nothing about Grey Market on the listing. I was directed to TechnoDigital by Shopzilla which has no place to add negative feedback like this. Dont do Shopzilla either. Anyway, two days after they called, I got an email telling me that my order had been canceled due to it being out of stock. I know why they canceled my order - and that's because they did not want to Honor the price I bought it for. Bottom line - They are a SCAM!!! Stay away from these losers!!!

BIG THANKS TO InternetScamsSuk poster!

I placed an order on this website, did the call in to comfirm and got hung up on 3 times and got the same deal or my order confirmed, then email saying it was canceled. I too placed my personal info in there and I did what you advised and went to the other site to wipe it out/put dummy info in. I hope that helps. But we don't know what they have done with the personal information once recieved. I did report it to BBB in NJ, where this so called company is at and I have their business ID #. I am also thinking about reporting it to the NJ police. Not sure if anything would be done, but can't hurt. Has anyone had problems with their personal info or credit cards being charged way after the canceled an order? Many thanks. Oh and Happy Holidays!

www.TechonDigital.com and www.TheDigitalNerds.com are FRAUD!

BUYERS BEWARE!

www.TechonDigital.com and www.TheDigitalNerds.com are FRAUD!

DON"T BUY FROM TheDigitalNerds.com or TECHONDigital.com

I just filed a serious complaint with the BBB about TECHON Digital ( www.TECHONDigital.com ), and The Digital Nerds ( www.TheDigitalNerds.com) about their unethical and illegal tactics of offering low priced items without fulfilling orders unless they throw in extremely high priced accessories (Their high pressure telemarketers will call you and try to sell you accessories before they even think of mailing it to you.... They'll find some reason not to send it to you if you don't by any accessories...)

On Jan. 02, 2008 I order a (JVC Everio GZ-MG555 5MP 30GB Hard Disk Drive Camcorder) from www.TECHONDigital.com . $389 for the camcorder and $14.90 shipping. Full price:$403.90 Order ID: 910***. The site said it would be shipped out in three days. Today, Jan. 3, 2008, I received a phone call from TECHON Digital trying to sell me many accessories. During our conversation the sales associate offered me a "US version of the camcorder I ordered." I was confused. The English only site and description page doesn't say anything about the camcorder not being English: http://www.techondigital.com/product...ductid=GZMG555 The associate (James: 800-958-0054 ext 201) told me that the camcorder I ordered and they were sending me is a "grey market" item. I told James that it doesn't or never stated grey market, which I never heard before, anywhere in the item description, on the website, or during the transactions, emails, or receipt. James told me the camcorder and instructions I ordered would be in Japanese. I was confused. There entire website is in English. James told me that the "hidden" policy is on their policy page. I looked over the entire website, all my transactions, all emails and couldn't find anything that stated my ordered camcorder would not be in English or the words grey market. After searching awhile, I found the words grey market hidden in their "Return Policy", not their Store Policy. James became very rude and hung up and canceled my order. What kind of scam are they running. I have copies of my order and their policy page with the words grey market only hidden in their return policy online. I even talked with management and another associate. All were rude. It was like they had this grey market conversation rehearsed.

They are using an unethical, misleading, and hidden policy to reach customers they wouldn't normally reach by listing grey market prices under all their items. TECHON Digital's management even told me they weren't an English company to attempt to avoid my reasonable arguments. I found them, via you, to be a New Jersey based company. Although my order is canceled without my permission, I still want to pay for what I ordered: http://www.techondigital.com/product...ductid=GZMG555. I am extremely angry with this company and its illegal and misleading way of selling merchandise. I gave them my personal contact and financial information to receive an English item as described. If anyone buys the same camcorder I did, they'll be just as angry. Please tell me what I can do.

BBB FYI:
I searched TECHON Digital and TECHONDigital.com names on the web and it came up with numerous complaints. Some were the same complaints I had. Here are a few sites that come up when I search 'TECHON Digital": THERE ARE THOUSANDS MORE COMPLAINTS JUST LIKE THESE!:

Yep....all of the above.
Just one big family.

ANd many more under their aliases....

TECHON Digital names was changed in July 2007 to avoid all the bad press. I'm sure a search for Digital Nerds, TECHONDigital.com's old names, would come up with a lot of complaints to.

AND THOUSANDS MORE COMPLAINTS... (Just type their company name in ANY search engine... Techon Digital and The Digital Nerds have been commiting fraud for years!)

From the many online complaints, including mine, I concluded this:
TECHON Digital , aka Digital Nerds , aka www.TECHONDigital.com , and www.TheDigitalNerds.com ... offer fake prices to reel in customers with overpriced accessories via high pressure telemarketers and then finds ways to stop the sale if the person doesn't buy any offered overprice accessories from their high pressure telemarketers that always call immediately after the order was placed. On most, not all, of their items, TECHON Digital follows through with orders that include high price accessories, but not with orders that don't. They only make money if they sell accessories. They lied to me about the grey / gray market thing. I contacted JVC. JVC doesn't sell via grey / gray market. It is either US or it is not. JVC's model numbers are also determined by country. It is a scam. This is definitely criminal. STAY AWAY FROM www.TECHONDigital.com TECHON Digital (BEWARE!) and The Digital Nerds www.TheDigitalNerds.com (BEWARE!)

Outcome Request Not Provided:
To TECHON Digital, www.TECHONDigital.com : info@techondigital.com , devel19802000@yahoo.com
Please sell me your English/US JVC Everio GZ-MG555 5MP 30GB Hard Disk Drive Camcorder, http://www.techondigital.com/product...ductid=GZMG555 as advertised for $389 + $14.90 s/h. And update your website and all item descriptions to show that all or some items are grey gray market. Also, please explain to all buyers what grey market means.(IE. It doesn't use US instructions or doesn't operate in English.) Hiding your unethical and highly used "grey market" policy in your return policy is wrong and probably against the law. You canceled my order without permission. Your company should be investigated for fraud. You are committing crimes! How do you get away with hurting all these people! Techon Digital , www.TECHONDigital.com is EVIL!

Techon Digital , www.TECHONDigital.com replied rudely to this request.

DON"T BUY FROM www.TheDigitalNerds.com (800) 958-0054 or www.TECHONDigital.com BEWARE, (877) 425-9933, FRAUD, SCAM, CRIMINALS, ILLEGAL, BBB INVESTIGATING, VERY RUDE, SELL JUNK, NY, NJ, CRIME, NO WARRANTIES, GREY MARKET SCAM, HIDDEN GRAY GREY MARKET POLICY SCAM, YOU WON'T RECEIVE ITEM!

hello,
Yes I had same issues and got the person "james". I also filed to BBB and also wrote the Trenton NJ police about it. Something seriously needs to be done about these guys. You would think with companys showing 5 star customer reviews would be ligit. BUT you can't even read the "so called reviews" linked to their website. I think they have a false posting on that. After I didn't buy extras not needed, I was canceled as well. They tried to say the batteries would leak all over and I needed the chargable ones. They also tried to tell me if I would have to send my camera in for fixes, it would have to be overseas and no other way unless I purchased their package. My father has had the same camera for 3 years and no problems. PLEASE! I'm not stupid, the only stupid thing I did do was fall for the enticing prices. I would do as internetscamsuk user posted. I went to the other website digitalnerds and changed all my information, hoping nothing happens to person information. I did reorder what I was looking for for only 50 more dollars at US1camera.com. They have been ligit and pretty decent so far.

quite welcome!

BUT I made a mistake, the website that I ended up purchasing my camera from was www.us1photo.com... NOT us1camera. Sorry about that guys. dcresource is a very cool site. I was seeking information on the canon s5 si digital and this guy did a whole trial on it and rated. shows you step by step photos and what he believes are good/not good features. I have heard a lot about that site by word of mouth.
