Techon Digital Scammers

I bought online a Canon camera from these con artists and was told to confirm within 24 hours. I couldn't get through on the phone since this was a Friday night. They emailed me and told me to confirm with James who tried to sell me sd cards, battery chargers and anything else he could think of at a ridiculously high price. I stated I just wanted the camera and he seemed obviously annoyed and got off the phone. Now today four days later I get the email about it not being in stock crap which obviously means since I wouldn't buy more overinflated stuff from them, then they weren't going to sell me the camera. If the price seems too good, chances are it is a scam. I just hope they didn't charge my credit card. I only went with them since they got such high ratings on some site I was researching. Obviously ratings mean nothing.

Techon Digital

The same scenario just happened to me with one additional twist. When I did not purchase the overpriced accessories, I received the “out of stock – order cancelled” email 2 days later. When I received the email I checked the website to find if it was still in stock. I also called and was told by the “customer service rep” that it was still in stock. When I inquired about my cancelled order I was immediately transferred without another word. The next guy said it was out of stock and would not respond to my question about the other rep stating that it was in stock. What can we do to stop this scam?? Something must be done to stop this fraud!!! I wish I had searched for complaints about this (I cannot bring myself to call them a company) website before I attempted to purchase.

Slick con artists

Unfortunately these type of website scammers, once they get too many complaints, will simply change their name. They know all the ins and outs to continue their con. The best things is for people to see these type of sites like ResellerRatings with our complaints and hopefully soon they will be stopped.

Techondigital are Scam Artists

I just had a dealing with techondigital.com and I concur that they are scam artists.

I ordered a Canon G9, received a order confirmation with a note to call their 877-425-993, went thru their high pressure sales and did not buy any accessories, and a week later when I was expecting the product, I received a order cancellation notice due to being out of stock!!!

Interestingly enough when I check their web site they currently do have the G9 camera!!!

They only want to sell, if they can make up for their low-ball price on selling you the accessories.

Do not deal with these guys. They are driving themselves out of business anyway, as the everyprice.com has already banned them from their site as of this writing.

Feeling a little vunerable right now

I wish I would have found these reviews before I placed my order on techondigital. I wanted to purchase a panasonic PV-GS85 camcorder from circuit city's after thanksgiving day sale but they were out of them when I arrived. So I went online to try to find the same deal and I found it at techondigital. I received an email stating that I would have to call in 24 hrs to confirm to confirm my order. I received 3 emails shortly after that and they all had $0 for order $0 for shipping and so on. Its at this point that I started to feel a little suspicious about the company. So I called on Sunday morning to confirm my order and they tried to tell me the battery that came with the product only lasted for ten minutes and that I should purchase another battery for $139.00. I had already researched the price of an extra battery and found that vanns had it for $39.00. I immediately felt that this was a scam and after 15 mins of him continuing to pressure me he finally said enjoy your product and hung up the phone. I don't want to cancel my order because of the 20% restocking fee. So I guess now I'm just waiting to receive my cancellation e-mail and feeling a little uneasy about the company having my credit card number. Has anyone had any problems with charges on their credit cards after the cancellations?

Techon Digital

Looks like I'm in the same boat as everyone else here. Like has been said before, I wish I had found this site before placing my order with these guys. I also ordered only to get the e-mail to "confirm order", followed by a canceled order when I didn't buy anything else at over inflated prices. What a waste of time. It's guys like this that give all online retailers a bad rap. Next time I'll just pay a few dollars more and go with a class outfit like NewEgg. Ahh, I think I'm feeling a little better now.

I was looking for 2 Kodak EZShare Z712 cameras for my husband and myself. The website Everyprice.com listed TECHonDigital.com as having the best price so I ordered from their website. I received an email instructing me to call "James" at an 800 number to "confirm my order". When I called he started out nice enough but then launched into a series of hard sells on a memory card (told him I had quite a few), a battery (because the one that comes with it only lasts 5 hours)and an accessory pack for $69 which included a case, a cleaning kit and a tripod. I pointed out to him that the web ad said that the cleaning kit and tripod were ALREADY included in that price. He then spouted off a bunch of other accessories and "dropped" the price to $59, then $49. I held my ground and he finally gave up. I hung up thinking that I had ordered the cameras. Two hours later I got an email stating that

"Due to the product you ordered being out of stock for 6-8 weeks from today's date. We regret to inform you that the order is canceled due to the product being on backorder. when or if we get the product again in stock soon will send you an email to place an order please do not resubmit your order again . sorry again and thanks for your understanding ." (the email didn't even make grammatical sense!)

I checked the website and it said they were still in stock...hmmm...I probably lost my order because I didn't order any extras. So I checked Everyprice.com again and found that Fotoconnection had the cameras for only slightly more so I ordered from them. Funny thing, though, the same thing happened. I got an email asking me to call "Jack" at another 800 number to confirm my order. It was after business hours so they were closed. My husband and I talked it over and we decided that it was probably going to be the same deal...high pressure sales and a cancellation when we didn't cough up the extra money. We knew that prices would increase over the weekend as retailers replenished their supplies from "Black Friday" so we decided to go with BuyDig.com in the meantime for a little more money. This time the transaction went through smoothly. No phone call required for confirmation, no hard sell ********!

Today (Sunday, Nov 25)I got another email from fotoconnection instructing me to call to confirm the order. I replied with the order to cancel the order immediately. I received an email stating that I would need to call since they do not accept cancellations by email. Gee, I wonder why? Because they can't strong-arm you via email as effectively as they can by phone? So I called and it was one of the most unpleasant experiences I have ever had on a phone call. First of all I was put on hold for 25 minutes listening to the most obnoxious R&B versions of Christmas Carols EVER! Finally someone picked up. I explained that I wanted to cancel my order. The person asked for my order number, verified who I was and then told me he would transfer me to "my rep." Another 10 minutes on hold with the crap music blaring at me. Finally a person picks up who sounds suspiciously like the first person who answered. I tell him I want to cancel and he wants to know why. I tell him I am all set with my purchases. He starts badgering me to tell him where I bought and for how much, tells me he is ready to offer me a $50 discount. I insist that I am not interested. He says he wants to throw in a battery and charger. The man is DESPERATE! I tell him it is too late and that I already have a confirmed sale. He finally hangs up.

An hour later I get a call from "James at Fotoconnection." I tell him I am not interested in talking with him about this. I am cancelling the sale. He gets very nasty and insists that I tell him where I bought the cameras. I refuse. He then goes on to tell me that he will have to charge me a "cancellation fee." At that point I remind him that I have no confirmed deal with him and he tells me that he put time and effort into my order. I tell him that unless he wants to hear from the FTC and the Maine and NY Attorney General's Offices he will NOT put anything on my credit card. I also say that I will be contacting my Credit Card company about this transaction. He responds with "Oh, you're one of THOSE kinds of people." I was so furious I just hung up. After I hung up I realized that "James from Fotoconnection" was, in fact, "James from TechonDigital." I did call my credit card company to put them on alert and told them that if any charges did appear I would dispute them. The Customer Service Rep was very helpful and gave me instructions on how to appeal. I really hope it doesn't come to that but I will fight this thing all the way if I have to. What a sleazeball!!!!!

The lesson I learned was: Don't rely on reviews on the merchant's website OR on the Pricefinder's websites. Use impartial, reputable sites like CNET to get the real scoop.

Techondigital - AVOID THEM

I ordered a digital camera on Friday from this company. They sent an email saying I had to call them to confirm order before it would be shipped. They were not open on Sat, so I planned to call on Sunday. They called me at 10 p.m. on Sat night. They were trying to sell me overpriced accessories and when I said I did not want anything they then told me the shipping would be more. I advised where did it say that on line. He could not answer. I told him that I did not want anything extra, I just wanted the camera. He said I had to listen, very rude and I then told him to the cancel order. He then got really rude and I hung up. The next day I called and tried to speak to a supervisor (Jeff) and he was even worse than the last guy. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Now they have my credit card info so I will be watching my billing closely.

www.techondigital.com Same Run-Around

I got the same runaround as everyone else. The same request to call James, and when I did he informed me that the camera was sold out and my order was canceled. I had not requested that it be canceled, and his reply was that they canceled it because they did not have any camera. I would give these guys a big fat 0 also.

Exact same story...TechonDigital is a scam!

I verified and the person on the phone strongly insisted that I needed a larger memory card because the memory card that it comes with can only take 2 pictures. The salesman tried to sell me a 1 gb sd card for 100 dollars which is strange seeing if you look around you can get alot larger sd, and sdhc cards for less than 100 so i told the associate that I had been saving for a while that i can not afford it so he was all upset told me to be happy with my camera and slammed the phone. I didn t pay too much attention 2 days after that call they had not processed my card yet and i received another email saying i had to verify again so i called and was informed that the camera is no longer instock and won t be back in for a whole month which i found extremely suspiscious due to the fact that i went to local markets like best buy, circuit city, and ritz cameras which is a chain in florida and they all had this camera or could order it for me in a weeks time. The camera was a canon powershot sd850 is which is according to reviews a really popular camera right now. I would say they seemed alot like a company i had read reviews about which was electro discounts which was on pricewatch.com for a while then was kicked off the site due to attrocious service I would recommend just going on pricewatch.com and reading reviews to make sure or using ebay the same way techondigital.com I would not recommend to anyone.
Pretty much the exact same thing happened to me…same camera and everything! I ordered it last Friday (11/23) and just today recieved an email telling me it was out of stock. I called to confirm the order just like everyone else did and was also pressured into buying accessories. I refused to do so though. The man was obviously frustrated when I didn't and hung up abruptly. Do not buy from TechonDigital unless you are fine with [i]having[i] to buy excessories overpriced.
