guptagupta is infamous around these parts
These Israeli douchebags need to be stopped

They are running around under 2 family names of Albagdadi and Hamra out of these locations in Brooklyn:

2343 E 1ST ST
69 GRAVESEND NECK RD

These guys open and close business quicker than most people do laundry.

I believe they are distant associates of the Israeli locksmithing scams in based in NY and FL operating nationwide.

Here's a CNet forum thread where someone states they are also doing business as Photo Dynasty and Wawa digital. There is also a link to download complaint forms to file with the Attorney General. I think enough people need to file complaints and then something will finally be done. Hopefully it will be in our lifetime. I am remembering how many years it took for them to do something about Robert Soloway.

I am convinced techondigital.com is also 86photovideo.com. According to the DNS reports I got from dnsstuff.com, they are with the same host. While techondigital.com shows the registrant as Eric Tursan, 86photovideo.com is hidden behind a domain name proxy. What legitimate business needs to hide their ownership?

I found their low price listed on a search for a Garmin gps. I placed the order on Thursday, and received their email requesting confirmation on Monday. I had expected it had already been shipped! I called the number and was put on hold for over 10 minutes, so I hung up and called back. This time I selected Customer Service instead of the extension shown in the email. The guy asked for my order number, and as soon as I gave it to him, he hurriedly said he'd transfer me to the right department, and I was put on hold again before I could say a word. After waiting another 8 or 10 minutes, I became upset and decided this wasn't the type of company I should deal with. I completed their "contact us" form and asked them to cancel the order. "You've got my credit card number and my address, so what else could you have needed to complete this order?" I decided to follow it up with another phone call. When a lady answered and asked for my order number, I first told her that I was cancelling and then gave her the number. Very shortly afterward, I received an email stating the order was cancelled and my personal data had been deleted.

I've been ordering quite a few items online lately, and one thing it has taught me is to stop using my bank account debit card. Only use a credit card to order online. Even if you use PayPal, if you don't have the full amount in your PayPal account, you should have them take the balance from your credit card instead of your bank account.

Another useful tip is to create a special email address that is only to be used for online orders. That way, when these con artists sell that email address to a spamming list, you won't have to change your address with anybody else.

The only thing that says to me is they have more than one location. If you read their returns policies, you find they are exactly the same - word for word. If they aren't the same people, they are certainly affiliated:

This one I added just for comparision. This company makes biometric fingerprint locks and is located in CA. You'll also notice similarities to the above one's I quoted. Wording is somewhat different at times, but the say pretty much the same thing. Notice the bold print sections that I highlighted.

In fact, the last two are almost identical also. They have the exact same wording and compare to the techondigital and 86photovideo policies. In the regard that they are similar to each other.

They could all be related. I'm also only posting the first parts of some of these policies.
Then again they all could just be using the same generic template/model for their return policies and adapting that to suit their purposes. They could also just be coping the policies from each others websites.

And just another example.

I tried to buy a tomtom GO 920 GPS for techondigital's advertised price of $209.00. As soon as I placed the order over the internet and received a confirmation email I got a phone call from "William" allegedly to confirm my order. As it turned out the real purpose of his call was to sell me a very expensive SD card by saying I needed the card for the GPS to operate. When I declined William became mean and insulting. Long story short, they canceled my order by saying the GPS was "on back order for six 6 to 8 weeks". Further, the cancellation email told me not to order again. They have continued to advertise the same GPS for the same price every day since they told me it was on back order. What a rip off.

The only way to fight this is to complain to the NY Attorney General, Bureau of Consumer Frauds and Protection, 120 Broadway, 3rd Floor, New York, NY 10271, telephone 212-416-8345, FAX 212-416-8787. I believe techondigital is located at 83 Avenue O, Brooklyn, NY 11204. If they get enough complaints they will take action, but you have to complain. Don't take this sitting down and let these guys continue to get rich by scamming would be customers

I tried to buy from them

I recommend you proceed with caution. Camera I tried to buy was noted in stock. I coundn't confirm my order till they tried getting in contact with me. They have to TALK to you about your order. They try to upsell you on rechargeable batteries and SD cards that they are charging $60+ dollars for..you can buy much less at a big box store or at tigerdirect or any other legit place. Well I didn't take it and was told my camera was now "NOT IN STOCK" and it would ship out in 3 weeks. I was abruptly hung up on. I called back the next day, as the first call happened on a Sunday, and was told that since my camera was now "NOT IN STOCK" my order had been cancelled and again after that sentence came out of his mouth he hung up on me. I called back and got the same guy, JAMES was his name, and he just hung up on me again. I tried a third time and got a Vinny and he was just as rude and spiteful about the situation and hung up on me after assuring me that they wouldn't charge my Credit Card given at checkout online. Needless to say, I am exstremnely worried about a fraudulent charge now. Watching that Credit card daily. Now getting calls from them a week later about "MY ORDER". I just called again and the guy on the phone that "He was probably calling to let me know cancelled. VERY SCARY BUSINESS if you ask me.

Don't trust TechonDIGITAL

Yes, I do not trust this site. I ordered a camera because it was the best price I could find. 2 minutes after I placed the order, I got a phone call from them telling me I needed a bunch of other stuff for the camera to work right. I said I only wanted the camera. Ironically, a week later my order was cancelled by them. Reason item was out of stock. Hhhmmm, mighty suspicious. I knew the price was too good to be true.

Let me give you a clue. You can just about bet your bottom dollar that IF a seller asks you to call to "verify your order" it willl be to sell you inflated priced items to go with that under priced article you thought you just bought. I tried out Techondigital just to check again and sure enough...even though I asked them not to call me they did. I made it clear I was not about to buy anything but the camera I ordered at the price they advertized and they immediately said it was back ordered. I told them to cancel the order which they happily did. Sent me similar email confirming the backorder/cancellation as some of you have gotten. Never ever deal with people like this. When you see a price too good to be true...99% of the time it is!

Review on TECHON Digital

I bought a Canon A1000IS from these guys before I read the reviews in this forum. The 'mo' is exactly the same!!!! Their price was the lowest I could find on the internet. I ordered it and the next got a call from one of these guys trying to sell me a 1 gig card for $80.00. He told me so many lies that I don't know where to start. I ended up buying the camera and card because
I was gullible. He "gave" me a case so that he could get some of my Christmas business. I paid $250 for the camera, case(cheap), and 1 gig card. I thought these guys were legit! They told me this was a super fast
card and the camera would only work properly with this card. Lies!!!!!!!!
I fell so stupid!!!! Don't deal with these liars. I should have checked this forum before buying.
