BEWARE JAFRUM.com Sells Fake DOT Helmets

Just got 2 half helmets from Jafrum.com both have the DOT sticker but after seeing how poorly it was made I took it to a local dealer and he was shocked anyone would sell such a poor product. He had told me people had called in before about the low quality of other Jafrum products before also.

The helmets are a safety hazard and hope someone sues them for putting riders at risk. The dealer showed me a real DOT helmet, it was much stronger outer shell, and better padding. DOT helmets don't have quick release, well guess what Jafrum.com does, so a cop can give you a ticket for that. Quick release is only for novelty helmets.

So that's why the Jafrum price is so low on there helmets. Jafrum gives you novelty helmets, beware and buy real DOT from reputable websites.

Are you sure you just didn't order a novelty helmet?

From the looks of it, all the DOT helmets have the D-rings like they're supposed to.

Jafrum Helmet

No it was a DOT helmet, with the link below. There picture is not correct. I will take a pic. and post here shortly so everyone can see. The helmet has a DOT sticker in the back and the lining even popped out from one of the helmets with little effort. I think Jafrum touches up all there images because these helmets look nothing like the pictures.

Have you contacted them about this helmet(s)?

I'd write a letter and make sure you [cc] it to the DOT, I'm sure they'd be interested in knowing about this.

Jafrum Helmets

Here are the pics. No D-Ring. The inside padding comes out with a little push. The helmets outer shell is very soft. I spoke to DOT they said outer shell can be ABS, Fiberglass, Polycarbonate, or composite materials. They said all these materials are not soft but very hard. So I question what material these helmets are really made from since the helmet is so soft and flexible. Also the leather helmet is not real leather. I took a pic. It's just a fabric made to look like leather.

The Helmet should say PVC not leather. I e-mailed Jafrum but no response yet. I will update once I hear back.

Thanks Frost, hopefully it will educate some people who want to be safe while they ride. Look for a Fiberglass or Polycarbonate half helmet. I had to pay to get this education (better then crashing with a fake DOT Jafrum helmet on). Here are some helpful links:

Another Jafrum Mistake...

Chris, did you get your money back?? I just went through something with Jafrum that was utterly rediculous. I ordered a leather jacket and the zipper was broken, and now, because it's been more than 48 hours since I received it, they won't refund my money. On top of that, even if I could return it, they wanted ME to pay to ship the item back... Luckily my credit card company agreed with me and charged Jafrum and gave me my money back.

Wait, is that a plastic clip on your Jafrum "DOT Certified" helmet???

Here is their BBB report. They are a member of the BBB. If you have any unresolved problems with them you can file a complaint at, https://odr.bbb.org/odrweb/public/GetStarted.aspx

They also do not seem to a a review page here at RR. You can add them here and also leave a review about your business transaction.

Well first I had a hard time even getting in contact with them. Then they said I damaged the helmet and clips are DOT, when they are not. There helmets are not DOT by any extent of the imaginations.

There return policy is to blame the customer so they don't take the return back. Also there so called jackets I read somewhere are not even cowhide. I will try to find the blog but they use cheaper pig skin and tell people it's cowhide. So I am curious how was your leather quality? Anyway I will do a charge back shortly also.
