TrustedPhotos.com - NOT TO BE TRUSTED
Hi everyone, I'm new here.
I would just like to share my story about an order I placed with TrustedPhotos a couple of days ago.
Well, I am sure you all heard this before. The prices are too good to be true. The first time you see those low prices, you immediately get sucked in.
I ordered a Canon XL2 at their site along with an Executive Package. I borrow a relatives CC(I would pay them back) and place the order. The GRAND TOTAL came to $1,778.94(remember this). Next day, I get a message on the answering machine that I have to call them back and confirm the order, which seemed a little weird to me considering this is the first time I have had to do something like this when placing an order, and believe me, I've ordered hundreds of time on the internet. I never had to call and confirm anything.
Anyway, I call them up, I choose OPTION #3...someone answers and I tell them that I need to confirm an order. He ask me for my order number....he says my name to verify it, and I say "YES"...by the way, he says my first name only but not my last, again very weird...then he transfers me to someone else...someone picks up, says something about "holding" and IMMEDIATELY puts me on hold, keep in mind he does this so quick that one does not have time to speak......so after about 10 mins on hold, some guy named "PETER" picks up. Yeah, some of you have heard of this guy before.
Ok now, after confirming my order, I ask him to CANCEL the Executive Package and change the shipping from UPS 2nd Air Day to UPS Ground. He says "ok" and that's done. Now you know what's gonna happen next, right? He basically tries to suck you in with other offers, claiming that the item you bought either doesn't come with it or the battery only has a running time of about 20 mins, but charges for 2 hours. WHAT?!?! So, like the sucker I am, I agree to 2 of his offers(I just can't remember what they are). The funny thing is, when I accepted to his offers, I had a really bad feeling burning inside of me. Infact, he offered me an extended warranty and I declined it. He also says that the Canon XL2 does not come with a ViewFinder and says that I need to have that for extra price. Hell, I even declined that too. Before all this, he says to me why I am buying this camera when they have another one, in which "Peter" claims to be alot better. I declined this one as well, and even if this were a legit company, I still could care less about being offered another camera. So when all is set and done, he tallied along with the insurance and it all came down to OVER $2,000.00. I can't remember the exact price, I think $2,222.00 or something like that. I was a fool at the time and didn't say anything. I said "thanks" and he said the infamous "enjoy your camera" and we hang up.
Today, I receive an E-Mail saying that my purchase is on BACKORDER and that they have cancelled it. They also state that my credit card has not been charged, which I am going to find out tomorrow. We shall see.
For the record - I got suspicious about this whole ordeal while placing my order. Right before I pushed the SEND button, it shows you your Grand Total, which they misspelled 'Grant Total'. I made the mistake of doing a research after doing business with this website.
We all learn from our mistakes.
